Dark red in color with a smooth frothy thick head. A smell of fruits (peaches, plums, apples) and alcohol. Taste is sweet and fruity plus it pack a punch. Watch out if you have more than 2 or 3 of these.....

Dark ruby red color. Strong alcohol nose and flavor. Dark fruit - plums, raisins. Nice nutty spice in the end. Enjoyable.

Very good and better than Nocturnum IMO. Not the best winter seasonal, but a damn good one to try.

ElGaucho (1862) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - DEC 1, 2002
Aroma is reminiscent of a Belgian wheat. Wonderful reddish hue with yellow highlights. Frothy, thick, off-white head that is mostly lasting. 10% alcohol is very noticeable. Also, quite sweet. This brew is hard to drink with all that alcohol. Why they package it in a 18.5 oz bottle, I have no idea. My friend and I split the bottle and both poured most of it out. Not that it was bad, but with a long night ahead, and the tasting accomplished, I didn’t want to put myself into a state of delirium! A brew to be sipped, and perhaps shared.

Classic Belgian dubbel appearance, wonderful bruin and attractive lacing. Requires some warming to release flavors, but still not particularly rich and flavorful--too strong of alcoholic and acidic overtones. Decent palate, satisfying in its alcohol warming, but not a brilliant beer in its style.

baobubba (455) - Starkville, Mississippi, USA - NOV 29, 2002
Cloudy red color with a quickly collapsing tan head. Aroma vinous, sweet, apples, yeast, caramelized sugar, bubblegum, and a little dusty/earthiness. There is a large presence of alcohol in the flavor. Sweet sugar flavors accompany the alcohol while a caramelized sugar twang entertains my tongue. No gaps on this one. Pretty solid.

Aroma- spice and apple/plum. Color - copper hues and some purple. Didnt sit too well on my palate, almost tough to drink the last few sips. Tasted the alcohol, very drying on my throat. Could have been masked better. Overall, pretty decent.

Ah, now I am warm. A near perfect seasonal with a sweet punch that doesn’t dominate or become cloying. Sherry, spice and a touch of bubblegum make this orangy hued beer a fun winner for the season.

Strong, balanced, and tasty. Nothing amazing though. This is one of those Belgian ales with a smorgasboard of somewhat discordant flavors and an alcohol burn. The strongest aromas and flavors are apples, pears, and spice, but surely a more experienced palate could isolate dozens of flavors. Certainly this beer isn’t for regular drinking.
