3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 JanEric (661) - Meppel, NETHERLANDS - FEB 4, 2010
Red brown, small head, malty, somewhat fruity aroma, some yeast in the nose also. Taste is full-bodied, intense, a little bit bitterness, then the alcohol comes in, nice. After that, there are raisins, nutmeg. Good lacing in the glass. Warm and nice beer for cold snowy days.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 WLG423 (167) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 29, 2010
Brown body with a fluffy slightly tan head. Bready and slightly yeasty aroma. Flavors have a rather barnyard character with some doughy character. Lots of sweet dark fruits. Mouth feel is nicely carbonated with a continuous bubbly feel. Finishes out with a quiet and muted flavor that nicely complements the rest of the beer. Enjoyable and quite appropriate for the season.

Bottle. Moderate malt notes of cookie and milk chocolate, light perfume and soap for the hops and yeast, with background notes of cherry, date and a hint of vinegar. Head is large, frothy/creamy, slightly off-white with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is hazy copper. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is on the heavier side of medium, watery, with a fizzy carbonation and a lightly alcoholic finish. A nice well rounded Belgian Strong Ale.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Leighton (3595) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 26, 2010
Tap at Sunswick. Surprisingly hoppy! I definitely didn’t anticipate it. Otherwise, a nice copper-red pour with a firm, white head. Some spice and hops in the aroma. Flavor was laced with sweet malts and bitter hops. Slightly sticky, sweet, and bitter finish. Good beer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 nhamilton (103) - Cibolo, Texas, USA - JAN 22, 2010
I know it’s late for a Christmas beer, but I’d been saving it. You could immediately smell the Christmas spices as soon as you opened it. Pour to a medium, tan colored head. A bock type color, but somewhat cloudy. Definate spiced taste almost with a hint of cinnamon. Goes down smoothly with no aftertaste. Not bad even a month late. Cheers!

Pours a hazy/cloudy brown with some head that goes away quickly. Nose is dark fruit, caramel, fruits and esters. Flavor is sweet, but not overly so or cloying. Finishes dry. Great Christmas Belgian!

750 ml. bottle. Pours a nice looking red brown with sparse gray head. Smells like apples and pears, white wine. Not much carbonation on palate, tastes like apple juice mixed with belgian strong ale, very smooth and drinkable but i thought this one would be more complex.
