Bottle, 700 ml. Pours clear brown/amber with a lasting tan head. Nose is spicy with lots of sweetish dark malt. The flavor is sweet, mainly malt and fruit (raisins, plums, dates and citrus). Also yeast and alcohol. Medium to full body. Well balanced, slight acidic/bitter finish.

750 ml painted (mock stoneware) corked bottle, now available in Norway (despite some objections by the humour & morality police). Amber to brown colour, large off-white head with an orangey hue. Malty sweetish aroma with strong notes of caramel, treacle and Christmas spices, also notes of yeast and oak. Flavour is very spicy and sweet (candy sugar) with a pleasant warming mouthfeel. There’s a hoppy and spicy (and slightly alcoholic) bite in the finish. A demanding beer, but not bad.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours a nice amber/red color. I am not sure why, but there is a ton of particulates in this beer. Cherries maybe? The aroma is sweet candy canes and cherry. The taste is sweet cherries, apple, spices, some alcohol warmth and a bit of hops. Not bad at all. Merry Christmas.

Medium borwn with orange tints and a fine, tall, white head. Orange and citrus, spice and caramel malt aroma and a dry earthiness. Mostly spice and fruit. Spicy caramel malt, fruity, earthy. A bit like a Christmas fruitcake. Decent but not really impressive. Better than their regular beers, I guess. Passable in a boring way. .

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2005 The smell is fruity with yeast and alcohol. It pours with a huge head and leaves wonderful lace. The color is a cloudy brown. Taste is sweet and has hints of raisin. Obvious yeast and alcohol as well. The bitter hops get you in the finish. But, what I like most of all is the rich malty taste. Two thumbs up for the pink elephant!

Dark brown and red color, big lasting beige head. Strongly spicy aroma, mild caramel and sweetness, also some alcohol in aroma. Medium to full bodied. Caramel, spices, medium alcohol in flavor, spices last in aftertaste with some alcohol and dryness, but not for very long. Nice lace in glass. Fine christmas brew.

330 mL bottle- that’s right, I found the little version. Pours a clear, dark ruby with a nice tan head. Great lacing on this one and low carbonation. Aroma is of yeast, dark fruits, candy, cloves. Taste is medium to full-bodied. Starts fruity and spicy but ends with a sort of unpleasant mix of warming alcohol, spice, gingerbread, and sour apple. I guess this is what the Christmas version of Delirium should taste like. I would give it a 3.8 were it not for the pink elephant with a Santa hat on the label.
