3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Shag (2229) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - DEC 17, 2011
A murky brown appearance with a beige head. Aroma contains some nutmeg, caramel, toffee, spices, and cherries. The flavor contains some nutmeg, mint, toffee, some bitter nuts, cherries, and toffee. The palate is on the thin side but that’s ok. This beer is very nice and hides the alcohol well. I can’t believe I’ve not rated this before!
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 rudolf (2229) - Buffalo, New York, USA - DEC 5, 2004
On tap @ prespa. Rich. Winter spices, strongly bitter. Orange, corriander, caramel. Sweet/spicy candilike nose. Sweetens as it warms - candy comes out in the nose w. some rich maltiness. Spicing is better balanced as it warms.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 dchmela (2218) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JAN 14, 2009
Pours a reddish brown with a thick off white head and lots of sediment. Taste is thick and malty with lots of Belgian yeast, dark fruit, spices and great Belgian carbonation. Nice yeasty malt cinnamon spice dark fruit aroma. Elegant Christmas beer with very little hint of the 10 percent abv.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 HonkeyBra (2217) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - DEC 3, 2009
Amber pour with barely any head. Aroma of apple juice, cider, light caramel malt. Flavor is flat sparkling apple cider. Banana and mostly alcohol. This is shockingly terrible. Like a flabby, thin, sharply alcoholic belgian ale. Basically, a big fat amber turd.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 TAR (2214) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - DEC 25, 2001
Similiar palate to Hapkin; Explosive and dry. Winey, bubblegum aroma. Fruity, light body, and some subtle bitterness. A lot of fun this was.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 radagast83 (2202) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - DEC 24, 2006
750ml. Since it had been a while since I had had Tremens or Nocturnum I really can’t tell you if they were similar in taste, but it sure did remind me a bunch of memories of having them. Great holiday beer, very spicy, and had less of an alcoholic taste then I would have expected considering the high alcohol content.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2010 Pours deep ruby brown with some chunkiness floating in the beer. Aroma is sweet and funky yeast with some roast caramel. Taste is sour raisin, alcohol, and other ripe fruits with a nice roasted finish. ...........................Re-rate Jan 2 2010. Had another bottle from 2005. Pours with haze and particles, ruby body, thick beige head. Aroma- cherry, wood, honey, vanilla, peaches, plum. Taste is sweet toffee and fruit. Very mild and smooth like butter.

Ugly body. Murky brown. Body isn’t consistent throughout. Small head. Big prune, raisin, spice, fig and brown sugar all around. Slight cola aspect in the finish. Slightly messy and overly sweet/malty.
