Christmas! A great time for winter beers. Pours brown with a tan head. Nose of fruit, malts, and some hops. Taste of spice, vanilla, malts, and alcohol. Hot edge takes away from the complexity of this beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Crosling (1861) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - OCT 4, 2004
Pours a nice copper with hints of ruby when held up to the light. A nice frothy foamy white head erupts when poured and loads of lacing spider web down the side of the glass. The typical Belgian.
Aromas of dark fruits, tons of malts, some chocolate, hints of spices and lots of alcohol.
Many deep flavors that adapted more than usual as this beer warmed to about 65 degrees. Raisins, Plums, Apricots, Figs...Yummy!!!! Very malty as well and the alcohol was well hidden in this beer. Extreamly drinkable too, especially at 10%.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 GAManiac (1852) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - DEC 21, 2008
On tap at the Brick Store poured into a Delirium snifter.
Pours a deep clear copper with a big creamy tan head that shows great retention and lots of lacing.
The aroma is dominated by candi sugar with lots of dark fruits on top - plums and raisins maybe.
The taste doesnt venture far from the aroma with tons of fruits on top of a candi sugar base.
The mouthfeel is sticky with the fruits and sugar and definitely starts to have an alcohol presence as it warms.
This is a very nice Belgian dark with the sugar and fruit sweetness really dominating throughout.
