Medium brown color. Small head. Aroma is malty and yeasty. Medium bodied. Malty, yeasty and fruity. Spicy, but not overly so. Slight vinous quality. Drinkable, and hides it 10% alcohol content well. It is a little disappointing as a xmas beer, spices do not add to the quality of this beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2006 Draught. At Cole’s, in Buffalo NY. Poured deep clear mahogany with a smallish off-white head. Aroma of Christmas spices (nutmeg, cinnamon), fruit cake, deep roast caramel malt, noticeable alcohol. Flavour is also spices and fruit, lighter roast caramel malt, stronger alcohol and unfortunately a touch of metal, with an unpleasant sourness developing as it warmed. Mouthfeel syrupy, a bit harsh, salty even. Not bad, but better as aromatherapy - just sniff it and mellow out.

beer.

New arrival in Iowa. The body is a medium red that is also kind liek copper. The head dies down quickly and was slightly off white with some khaki coloring. The aroa is really boozy with some toffee and a little bit of ginger. There is also a hint of hard cinnamon candy. The taste is rich with some fruity cherries and a little bit of cinnamon. There is also a hint of plums. Highly carbonated moutfeel that is almost too sharp. A nice Christmas brew.

sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. A 2007 vintage. Pours a slight hazy caramel brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that disipates to a fine film and ring. Aroma of caramel malt, a touch of raisin, yeast, some dry spice and some toffee. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation , with flavors of dried pitted fruit, cramel malt and some holiday spice. Finish has a high alcohol metallic texture with a caramel and spice aftertaste.

The 11.2oz bottle poured a clear copper color with thin layer of off white foam. The aroma is a bit light with a medley of fruit such as cherries, dates and raisins along with some spice and hints of alcohol. The flavor follows the aroma somewhat with up front fruitiness from raisins and cherries. Beyond midway a more tart fruit note surfaces tasting like apple and grapes. The flavor is rounded out with the help of coriander spice and pepper.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rune (4667) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAR 14, 2006
750ml on unusual coloured and designed bottles. Red top with campagne cork. Hazy brown in colour. Off-white, short lived foam. A bit yeasty aroma. Crispated body. Very complex in flavours. Acidulous, but with notes of lemon and spices. Bitter ending with warming alcohol. The strength of the beer is very well hidden. One bottle was consumed to a heavy chocolate cake. The bitter and sourish drink stands very well to a sweet dessert. Perfect combination! I have one bottle left in the cellar and will try to keep it for the next new years eve (07.01.2006 and 11.03.2006)
