4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 judasbeer (431) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 25, 2009
Hazy, blood-orange, rich copper-amber color with lots of swimming yeast pieces. Small, good lacing creamy head.
Sweet rich fruity, complex aroma. Reminiscent of strawberry candies with grapes, plums. Very sweet candiness/fruitiness dominate in the flavor. Rich caramel, molasses notes are also in inside. Very pleasant smooth mouthfeel with a touch of liqueur warming in the finish. Medium to full bodied, oily texture. Smooth carbonation.

Deep mahogany amber crytal clear color with a medium frothy light-tan head. Aroma is alcoholic, yeasty and dark dried fruits with a bit of spice and caramel. Flavor is big dark caramelly malts. Well balanced with a bit of spices and come alcoholic notes toward the end as it warms in my mouth.

This is a fantastic Belgian beer that really sneaks up on you. It’s 10% ABV but doesn’t taste like it. It goes down very smoothly. I just drank one in about 10 minutes. My bottle actualy says Christmas on it and it’s directly from Belgium. I haven’t seen one that says Noel before. No wonder there’s a pink elephant on the bottle. You’ll see them if you drink these too fast!

Very nice pour, dark brown with sparse off white foam head. The aroma is earthy and strong. The flavor has barley and a little bit a caramel in there, that’s what I detected anyway. Cheerz to Christmas.

Bottle. 25.4 oz. Pours maroonish cloudy brown, with a soft, pillowy, snowy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, roasted almond, birch wood, vanilla, toasted malts and honey. Medium bodied. Nice, tight mouthfeel with a very subtle, lovely warming. Finishes slow and wonderfully. Outstanding Christmas brew from Huyghe. Very cool bottle as well. Highly recommended for the holidays.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 teorn88 (567) - Rimini, ITALY - APR 6, 2010
33cl bottle. Pours a full brown body with a tanned head. Medium lasting foam. Aroma is pretty malty. Great, but not as much as taste. Taste is much more complez than expected. Surely sweetness, maybe a bit woody-roasty. Almost no bitterness. Medium carbonation. Full, thick body. Sweet ending sensation. Wonderful seasonal ale!
