Enjoyed at Stone Bistro. Pours a rich chestnut amber color. No head whatsoever to speak of. Aroma like Belgian Christmas - Belgian phenolics mixed with nutmeg/cinnamon/chestnuts/etc. Surprisingly easy drinking and enjoyable. Also quite a bit hoppier than I expected.

I was a little into it at the time, so no good notes. Ruby with a small frothy white head. Lots of spice and malt, rather sweet as well. Surprisingly huge body. Very tasty stuff. Wonderful for a cold Christmas.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with an off-white, frothy head. Lacing is excellent. Aromas of bananas, citrus, and apples. Crisp initial texture with a creamy finish. Carbonation is almost perfect. Tastes of roasted malts with a bit of fruit to finish. Very good beer and a nice change from the other Christmas beers.

Pours dark brown with ruby colouring and an off-white head. Spice, caramel and dark fruit aromas, with a hint of yeast. The flavour is amazing. A malty smoothness throughout, but the toffee, warming spices, prunes and plums all come through strong.. The bitterness from the malt balances the intense sweetness nicely. Very warming and more-ish!

Bottle. Pours a clear amber brown with a medium sized beige head. Soft spicy and candy, toast on the nose. Gentle toast and caramel, candy. Soft spiciness, chewy gentle malt, toast. Slight warm alcohol on the finish, spicy and smooth.

Martinus (663) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - JUN 8, 2011
Dark, slightly hazy, reddish brown beer, some sediment floating around, off white head.
Aroma sweet malty and rather spicy, ginger, vanilla, cloves and nutmeg, amongst others. Raisins, caramel, candy sugar, slight banana, some hints of sweet indonesian soy sauce. Christmas cookies (speculaas and piparkook)
Flavour quite sweet and spicy, again ginger and nutmeg, caramel, malts, dark dried fruits, more spices. Alcohol lends warmth and depth but doesn’t overpower. Complex but quite balanced. Finish warm alcoholic, yeasty and spicy. Nice one.

Bottle. Brune pour with tan head. Spices, nutty malt, belgian yeast and candied sugars, and some dark fruit esters. A little sweet but overall nice xmas brew.
