33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra. Pours ruby with a thin pink head. A lot of tiny bubbles on the inside of the glass. Aroma of blackberries, cherries and other red fruits. Taste is really sweet with some hidden bitterness. Not realy bad too sweet, too fruit juice alike and too boozy.

Bottle. Light reddish brown with a pinkish finger-thick white head. It’s pretty cherryish on the nose, in an artificial way, with almond and white sugar. The flavor has raspberry, cherry, some almond and lots of sweetness. It also has that pleasant touch of cigar, cellar and dark sugars I appreciate about some Belgian beers. Medium to full body, almost sticky on the palate, with a pleasant carbonation level. Lasting artificial and sweet berry finish. Sort of good, but way, way to artificial and sweet. 140713

33cl bottle Appearance: red body, with a pink foamy head of 1 finger which has ok retention, good amount of lacing. Aroma: Little sweet, sour cherry candy sweetness on top of some malts. Taste: Sweet articicial candy red fruit with a bit of sourness and some malts. Sweetness is artificial, Just enough bitterness in the finish to say it’s a beer medium body, above average carbonation. Well not my beer, too artificial sweet. Allthough it’s just a beer not a alcopop allthough comming dangerously close to that. Duidelijk zoetstof toegevoegd. Als gewoon biertje een 4. Als dessertwijn vervanger een 6.5. Probleem blijft bij mij de kunstmatige zoetstof.

the aroma is fruity and malty with notes of lollipop... cherry juice is prevailing in taste, also some shades of sweet wine... rather strong beer... dry sweet aftertaste...

Bottle. Pours deep red brown with a small, off-white film head. Aroma has sweet cherries, vinious, light almonds. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of sugary sweetness, cherries, dry and dusty. Vinious and warming finish. Okay.

Bottiglia da 33, di un bel colore rosso scuro con un piccolo cappello di schiuma color rosa, all’odore risalta subito la ciliegia, sapore molto dolce con una nota alcolica ben presente

Red-Amber pour with a white head. Cherry aroma but not a great deal of fruit in the flavour.

330ml bottle bought at Belgian Beer Internatioal in Tsuen Wan..

Translucent deep ruby red colour with traces of yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head and off rose pink foam which fades in 40 seconds; Excellent sticky lacing and minimal carbonation; Fragrant, sweet and tart aroma of cherry, with cherry juice, light perfume, light malt, wheaty tartness, very light yoghurt, sugar, light alcohol, yeast and faint grass; Medium sweet taste of malt, with ripe dark cherry, strong cherry liquor, cherry juice, sugar, light yeast, sharp bitter hops and grass; Medium body. Slick palate; Mouth feel is dominated by a thick body with cherry liquor and nice ripe dark cherry; Very strong cherry liquor indeed. Unlike Kasteel Rouge, this one doesn’t have much yoghurty lambic or winey taste to boost. Also very hoppy for a wheaty fruit beer. Interesting… Hoppiness is faint grass nose and sharp, moderate grassy hops taste; Bitterness is light but Pils-like, quite expressive for a long, grassy, low astringent finish; Slightly dry after taste. Sweet boozy and hoppy to mouth.

Comments: For a cherry liquor-like fruit beer, this one is inferior than the accomplished Kasteel Rouge. The liquor taste is very standoff-ish and doesn’t quite blend into the wheaty beer base; Luckily the strong hoppiness was able to counter its booziness. Quite decent, but it can do better than being a liquor bomb.
