The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

The holder says its the best beer in the world...It is really good, but surely there is another beer more worthy of this designation... Smells like cloves and tropical fruit. Appearance is a nice pale straw color with tons of bubbles. Has a nice fruity malt beginning with a finish of fruity hops. Lots of carbonation make for a very crisp finish. Excellent. A great beer to be sure, but best in the world is a mighty bold statement.

33cl Bottle from Bierzwerg. Appearance is clear golden yellow color, medium, off-white with large bubbles and good lacing. Aroma is fruity and spicey with strong notes of yeast and alcohol. Taste caramel, some fruit, resin hop bitterness, alcohol giving it a somewhat cough syrup flavor. Leathery yeast notes also come through. Palate is light- to medium-bodied, somewhat thin texture, soft but fizzy carbonation, slight atringent and bitter aftertaste. As far as I’m concerned, just an average Belgian ale, not much special about this one.

Bottle. Couple years old I think. Pours a somewhat hazed treacle gold with a large amount of big chunky yeast bits suspended throughout. Nothing really settles, dancing around like little gelatinous clouds throughout the glass. Nose is sweet, full of caramel and some very light floral notes. Medium bodied, sweet but not cloying, just light toast and caramel notes, smooth and warm. Warming alcohol for the finish shows up early, but is not harsh or abrasive in any way. Warm phenols and yeast on the finish, toast and more soft candy.

Gran classico, la delirium, era da una vita che non la bevevo, bel colore dorato e aromi molto in stile, In bocca si lascia bere...

A lovely, sweet beer. Tastes very fruity. One of my favorite beers so far. Love the pink elephants.

Sweet and fruity aroma with hints of buublegum. Nice pour, head fizzles out quite quickly to leave a nice thin rim around my glass, pale amber colour and slightly cloudy in appearance. Excellent taste of hops, bannana, bubblegum and spices and a lovley bitter finish. One of my top five for sure

Hazy amber color, didn’t like it. Average smell but fine taste and carbonation.

It’s astonishing what slips through the net: here’s a baby whale. Bottle from Alexander Wines, Coventry. Pours slightly diaphanous gold with a silken white head not budging an inch. Nose of alcohol, orange wine gums, peppery gooseberry hop, spices, ladies; pure Belgium, though oddly not as Belgian (to my nostrils) as the Weihenstephaner Vitus I just saw off. The taste is alcohol-swamped, slightly hot, not as peppery and enigmatic as the aroma. Some honey and shrubby hop on the swallow, wine gums again. Actually slightly drips with hops. Slippery, silky, easy to drink but noticeably alcoholic. A great beer but too hot to be cool.
