The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

330ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours pale gold, long-lasting white head. Aromas of white wine, yeast, lemon, sherbet. Taste is bready, yeasty, more lemon. Balanced tae fuck. Lovely.

Mostly fruity with some malt background, light yeast, bit spices, wheat. Maybe serving temperature was too high, but this is not for me.. Feels bit too thin and overcarbonated. Drinkable, but nothing special

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a chalice. The appearance was a slight hazy orange to amber/brown color with a half finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing sticking along the glass. The smell had a nice Belgian spice (light clove/slight coriander) through some orange/lemon that seemed it was sweetened a bit like it was sugared. The taste took all of those previously mentioned elements and combined them wonderfully. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a sessionability that wanted to rear it’s face but for the most part, just didn’t. She’s a sipper and honestly I’m okay with that. Overall, if anything this beer was done very nicely to style and is pretty good to me.

Pulled this from my cellar so this review could be a litle off as compared to newly purchased beer. Perhaps someone out there in may have one aged like this one for comparsion purposes. I bought a case late in 2008. Poured into a Delirium noel sniffer. It has a light golden straw color with about an average size head, but fades fast to almost nothing. It is still well carbonated. The aroma is slightly spicy with hints of apple cider. Tastes a nice malty character with hints of spiciness and some dry bitterness, but not overly. Thin body with some nice alcohol warming. Some tripel aspects come through. An outstanding beer well worth cellaring.

Delirium Tremens pours hazy golden with a fluffy big head with some lacing. Yeasty notes and green apple swell in the nose with brushes of pear and lemon zest, while a creamy milky note plays a minor role in the background. The flavor starts off with brown cane sugar, then lets the tongue melt under a graceful interplay of pear and green apple before gently moving to the yeast’s peppery spice and some residual sugar balanced by a hop bite in the finish, in which the alcohol is much more gentle than expected from a brew with 8.5% ABV. The high carbonation and spiciness add a very nice zing to it. Pink elephants on parade, here they come! Hippety hoppety.

In short: strong fruity beer. With the taste of an average strong ale and a incredible fruity aftertaste, aroma of sweet malt but sadly kind of rotten.

At Hoppy Loft Brussels, with S&G Tasting group, first day trip. APPEARANCE: clear blond beer, small unstable white head. NOSE: grains, alcohol. TASTE: grains, alcohol, not much here though. Will re-rate this some day, because I thought this was better.

Bottle. Clear yellow color, modest foam head which quickly disappears. Aroma is quite boozy, blue grape juice, apple juice. Strong hint of plastic / candle wax. Taste resembles a double Abbey style beer (oddly enough), but it’s a little different. Raisins and blue grapes are there, but the beer evolves to an apple juice taste (in the aftertaste as well). A bit strange, not for me...

the aroma of peach, pepper, citrus and, a little bit, yeast... the taste is malty and fruity with shades of toffee, apple, orange and wheat... dry and sweet aftertaste... classics...

Lo primero que llama la atención es su abundante y cremosa espuma blanca muy porosa y que hace compañía a lo largo de todo el trago. La cerveza es de color amarillo anaranjado ligeramente turbio y de una gran vivacidad que la hace muy atractiva. Aroma a cítricos, a pan y a bizcocho y ligeramente afrutado.
