The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

330mL bottle BBE: 01/15 (aged). Cellar temp (14-16 degrees). Pours an apricot/light copper body with thick haze and large yeast clumps. Head immediately dissipates but reforms to a light-medium, tight, off-white crown. High-intensity nose of clotted cream, milk, wheat, fresh-milled grain, yoghurt-coated cranberry and cocoa powder. A medium cereal sweetness is well balanced by a medium, crisp bitterness, with a touch of lactic sour. Full-bodied with a chewy, though inconsistent texture, medium carbonation and lasting, sweet, nutty finish. This ages wonderfully, although more care should be taken to pour without disturbing the yeast. A very ’mealy’ beer that hides its strength very well. Huge thanks to Craig for the carefully-matured bottle.

Degustata in bottiglie da 33 centilitri. Ottimo aspetto giallo oro schiuma persistente e fine.

Prima bier.

Aroma of pear, green apples, melted sugar, apricot, cloves, yeast, a tad alcohol. Pours clear golden with a two finger foamy white head. Lots of glass lacing. Taste is medium sweet, lightly bitter. Taste has notes of banana and a peppery edge. No alcohol in the taste but gives a warming sensation in the throat. Light body, sticky like candy on the lips, average to lively carbonated, sweet fruity finish. Very solid and drinkable.

hay, bubblegum, and general Belgian fermentation in the nose; golden and clear with a dense, frothy, white, slowly receding foam; on the tongue very lightly bitter with lightly rounded acidity, medium body, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation, fades smoothly to an easy alcohol warmth for the finish. A warm afternoon or evening refresher which I’d confidently pair with a vinaigrette-dressed salad, funky cheese plates, and definitely a pizza. Something’s lifting sort of dryly of the back of the tongue I can’t quite name which may just be an extension of the alcoholic warmth.

Best een aardig blondje. Hij heeft een klein zuurtje maar is verder redelijk zoet. Niet zo uitgesproken, maar aardig doordrinkbaar.
