The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

From a 33cl bottle Pours a hazy gold with an enormous, frothy, ivory head. Big chunky lace. Smells spicy and lightly fruity and sweet. Peppery and hints of coriander. Taste is lightly fruity (apples, plums) and spicy (pepper, coriander). Hints of lemon. Dry and crisp. Also sour toward the end and lightly bitter in the finish. A medium bodied ale and dry. Pretty good stuff although I am not overwhelmed. I’ll buy it again.

Out of bottle, smells of slight toast, yeast and pepper. Appeared a cloudy tinted gold, rich frothy head. Tasted a subdued malt with a hoppy bite to finish just slightly sour. Overall not too bad at all.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2005 Tasted 29/05/2005. Bottled from the Leuven Belgian Cafe, Wellington. Hazy blonde with a thick, pillowy, pure, white head. Nose of candy, malt, flowers and pepper. Good medium mouthfeel, soft carbonation and a lovely smooth sweet malt flavour with a spicey hop bitterness through the middle and back. Surpsingly clean and just a little too easy to drink at lunchtime.

Pours a massive fizzy head that shows good retention. Clear golden amber, looking all the world like a larger. Expressive nose, sweet malts, a touch fruity and feels just a fraction hard or burnt. Some heat and spice evident. Big mouthful, more fruit and malt but very hot with alcohol searing the palate. Overlaid with a skuny note. I don’t think this bottle is quite right. Unremarkable finish. Needs to be tasted again to give the beer justice.

Complex, fruity flavor. Golden color with frothy white head. Good lacing throughout. A bit of a strong yeasty aftertaste.

Poured a cloudy gold with a big white head (bottle may have been shaked up by the looks of it). Light, fruity, sharp carbonation. Very yeasty. Alcohol is well hidden. Some wit beer characteristics. tastes of orange, lemon, bananna and a bit of pepper.

I Love this beer. Clean yet full. Perfect fruit during the first one. A second round is truly dangerous and you can lose some of the flavors in repetition. Cornicopia nose (banana apple bread marmalade) The BUZZ is a treat as well.

Complex flavor mix with a spicy fruit coming through strongest. Apple-banana-orange, pepper, clove. Very interesting mix that I am not doing justice. High effervescence and medium body carry the flavor well and really distinguish the style. ($6.99/750ml)
