The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2011 From bottle. Light golden with a thick white head that lasts and laces nicely. Nice fruity aroma with some yeasty notes, citrus, spice, and a hint of malt. Medium bodied, very smooth and flavorful, good carbonation, nice yeasty finish. Light alcohol warmth.

A little sweet for my taste, the Tremens nonetheless has a complexity to it that I have found in few other beers. It’s sweet and tart - reminiscent of sour apples. Very good and definitely full of character.

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy lemon with a small head. Aroma is lemon, slightly sour, some banana and barnyard. Nutty start. Yeasty, lemon finish, very dry.

On tap at 1410 World Bier Haus in Calgary, served in a branded snifter. Pours clear golden with a tall white head. The head fades slowly, leaving copious amounts of fine lace. The aroma is big and yeasty, with cloves, pepper, spice and pale malt. The flavour is moderately sweet throughout, complex with honey and some spice. The finish is moderate in length and mostly clean with some spice. It is medium in body with a very smooth milky texture and minimal carbonation. Overall, this is a nice honey sweet ale with a pepper-spice accent. The alcohol is well disguised. 2010-11-10

Bright, light yellow. Glows. Decent head, nice lacing. Nose is weak pepper and slight phenols. Taste has green apple tartness, mild sweetness, good until an incredibly harsh finish. Not bitter. Champagne like carbonation and dry finish.

This is one of the more unique Belgian strong ales I have tasted. It has the strongest fruit flavors I have experienced of any other beers in this category. While it isn’t my favorite of all time, It stands out. Bottle poured into trappist glass. Golden brown color, large white head. Aroma of citrus, and spices. Tasted very sweet and a lot like granny smith apples. lively carbonation typical of the genre. lingering spice in the finish.

Bottle. Smells sweet, sour around the edges. Tart fruit in the flavor, like a sour apple. Sour aftertaste that lingers. Nice.
