COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned.
Launched on December 26th 1989 @ 9% abv. Abv reduced from 9% to 8.5% in 2003.
The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Bottle pour, slightly cloudy golden color, nice lacy head that subsides relatively quickly. Good carbonation, nice aroma of orangy-lemony character. Love the balance, slight banana flavor, with light spiciness, maybe a hint of ginger flavor and citrus tang.

Bottle pours crystal clear gold with 30 second off white head. The aroma is spicy yeast, tartness, green apples skins, a touch of black pepper and pears. The taste has sweet apples to start and then picks up tart yeasty spiciness. It stays that way into the finish where an upwelling of apple blends into a modestly dry after taste.

This beer is the masterpiece from Belgium. The smell helps you determine the uniqueness, and the taste leaves you in awe of one of the greatest beers in the World. It’s light, yet has a strong pleasant and fruity taste. You must try this beer before you die.

Had this on tap at Delmonicos in NYC. What it lacks in appearance it makes up for in aroma and taste. Its kind of a sweet flavor. I like this one much better than Nocturnum.

On tap: pours a light clear golden with a very modest head. Aroma is very funky, courtesy of those yeasts. A little bitter to be sure, flavors are definately different! Spicy notes combine with belgian sugars, but the biggest thing is how the abv dissapears here. Very interesting

Bottle. Pours clear gold with a large, frothy white head, high retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (straw, bread, biscuit), average hops (spicy), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of peach and alcohol. Flavor is heavy malt (straw, bread, biscuit), average hops (spicy), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of peach, barnyard, and alcohol. Full body, moderate warmth, high carbonation, light creaminess, and a dry finish.

Bière belge forte de 8.7% d’alcool, blonde grissâtre, mousseuse, arômes fruités d’agrumes, goût d’alcool très prononcé, genre de champagnette.

Poured from the bottle into my trusty Samuel Adams glass, at cellar temperature. The ale was quite lively and took a few pours to fill the glass. The body is a pale yellow, topped by a thick head of very white foam. A sweet yeast nose with notes of citrus, and a faint whiff of alcohol. The palate is medium bodied, with a certain crispness. This is a sweet and tarty brew, with a gentle warming sensation. Not bad, something good every once in a while, but not a staple.
