Pours gold with a short lived head, and looks very much like a lager. There is nothing in terms of lacing. The nose is of yeast, mild malts or maybe more of honey, lime and then something meaty. In the mouth it’s tart, spicy and sweet, with a element of a weiss to it. The mouth feel is medium with a velvet-like carbonation. The alcohol is well hidden. The finish brings out the yeasts and spices - these seem to hold quite a herby flavour - and then there a final tart end. It’s good, sure, and enjoyable but nothing special.

Bottle. Deep golden pour with an ok head. Head turns into a small foam quickly. Very strong aroma with orange, tangerine, yeast and some more fruits. Orange in the taste with a nice smooth finish. Good aftertaste. Great Belgian beer!

My preference for Belgium beers is due in large part to their complexity both in taste and smell. Delirium exudes medium to stron yeast and brett esters. Spicy sweet fruity clove aromas give way to an alcohol bite to finish. A cloudy yellow amber brew with a full long lasting head. I didn’t see any pink elephants but about 3/4 ways through my 750 bottle, stress seemed so far away. Do you think the 8.5 abv had anything to do with it?

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2010 In bottle; good beer. Aroma is sweet (almost appley). Taste very easy drinking, a little crisp. I would compare this beer with Duvel, though I did enjoy the Duvel more.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2011 Bottle:
Big, slow disappearing, white foamy head.
Clear yellow golden color (ala pilsner).
Smell fruit (apple), yeast, malts and sweets.
Taste is fruity and yeasty. Banana, light hint of alcohol, hints of malts, grains, hops and sugars. Not really bitter, but isn’t sweet either.
Maybe I had a wrong bottle but found this one to be too yeasty.

11.2 oz. bottle. Appearance is a crystal clear yellow-golden color with a thick, creamy white head that lasts throughout. Excellent lacing. Very effervescent. Fruity aroma of oranges and pears. Flavor is also fruity with lots of pears, oranges, pears, and apples. Nice spicy hop character. Light to medium body. Highly carbonated. Crisp and refreshing. Short, dry finish.
