The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Great Belgian ale. It has a nice sweet aroma to it. Its golden color accents its perfect head. Even minutes after this beer is poured it has bubbles rising. Its sweet Belgium taste is delicious.

I can’t believe that after all of these years enjoying craft beer I had never tried this one. Well that day ended. Enjoyed this one with family at the Gherst Haus in Evansville, Indiana. Pours out a light golden honey with a huge white head! The head is thick and creamy and lasts throughout the entire beer. Aroma is one of sweet cloves, raisins, bananas and yeast. The beer tastes lightly sweet of honey and clove for a very interesting combination. The problem with this beer lies in the alcohol, this beer would have scored much higher for me (because it looks and smells awesome) had the beer not had harsh notes of alcohol and been possibly over-spiced. Not bad, not the greatest beer in the world as the commercial description says but certainly wouldn’t pass this up!

The bottle looks really great, the beer in the glass also. Quity zippy, huge head. Starts spicy and strong, a little bit alcoholic. Finish more fruity, still very spicy, but wonderful balanced. A good beer!

On tap at Delirium Cafe, Brussels on 16th January 2010. Clear gold with thin white head. Herby hop and slight notes of cheese, smoke and corriander. These blend together harmoniously and culminate in a dry hoppy finish. Surprisingly easy to drink for its strength.

Golden hazy, actually quite turbid. A lot of yeast and some fruit in aroma and taste. The sweetness is there alright, but is not dominating to much. Good bitterness for being a belgian ale.

Opened 5/10, 22oz bottle circa 2009. Wow! this bottle opened like champagne. Enormous head. I have poured it into a glass and it is still bubbling for a few minutes now. Aroma is slightly citrusy, notes of wheat and allspice. Tastes sweet but light. Texture is slick with lively, fizzy carbonation. Overall, I greatly enjoy this beer. Exactly what to expect from a premier belgian!!!

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2010 Delirium Tremens pours a clear gold with a very minimal white head. The aromas consist of yeasty, earthy, leathery, basement smells. Tastes all around light in sweetness, sourness, and bitterness with a coppery/irony undertone. The palate is light bodied with a thin texture and a soft carbonation. Overall, a pleasant, light, and very drinkable Belgian Strong Ale.
