The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

33 cl bottle. Aroma almost inexistent, flavor is too simple according to me and the carbonation too high. Not good.

33 cl bottle. Aroma is too simple for a strong ale and therefore quite disappointing. Flavor is quite sweet, floral I would say. Lightly bitter finish. Thin body and high carbonation. The worst of the "delirium" series to me.

2009 750 mL bottle. To be honest, I hope I got a bad bottle. I’m going to try it one more time, if it’s better, I’ll rerate, if it’s garbage again.... well yeah. Pours translucent gold with a two finger white head into a tulip. Has a... pretty unpleasant smell: green olives, brine, yeast... that’s all I’m getting. The taste is much of the same unfortunately. Pretty yeasty with green olive juice abound. At least there’s a slightly sweet apricot note to it, as well as a bit of spice. It’s weird... but... yeah... Medium bodied with a fuzzy mouthfeel and a low level of carbonation. Odd... horrendous nose but it drinks ok. Guess I need to try it again in hopes that I got a bad bottle.

I had waited a long time to try this, and was happy when a friend brought one over to split; nice Belgian with classic notes; somewhat subdued flavors could have been more forthcoming; the name and package is better than the beer, and thats not a knock on the beer

A- Translucent champagne body with virtually no head. Leaves no lacing. Somewhat bubbly. S- Smells lightly of citrus and spices. T- Great balance of citrus, spice, and wheat upfront. Finish is very clean and dry with nothing lingering with the exception of subtle hints of alcohol warmth. The overall flavor is on the light side. P- Light body and medium carbonation. Similar to the body of a champagne or triple. O- This is a drinkable and great brew. I finished mine rather quickly. Great by itself or paired with spicy foods. Bottle at home. Pours a clear golden color with a thick, creamy white head. Extra points for the beautiful bottle. Aroma of strong spices, pepper, orange peel and yeast. Flavor is quite bitter, very spicy and slightly sweet. Very bitter finish. Well balanced. Very lively carbonation. Very nice tripel style brew.

Attention grabber bottle & label. Inside is a pretty good beer. Aromas of corn, spice & hops. Sweet at first then hops, corriander and slight sour finish. Memorable beer.

Had this on draught at a special Belgium event at Chappy’s in Dayton -- served in a special 6 oz wine-like tasting glass. Clear yellow golden color with a creamy head that produces some nice lacing around the glass. Fruity, flowery Aroma. Delicious with lots of bready, yeasty qualities and some grassy notes, punctuated with a bit of spices. Some hops notes, especially in the finish. Smooth, creamy and medium bodied. Dry finish leaves you wanting more. Extremely smooth for the high ABV. Stands up great by itself or would pair nicely with cheese and fruit.
