COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned.
Launched on December 26th 1989 @ 9% abv. Abv reduced from 9% to 8.5% in 2003.
The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2011 Tasted a lot like the Delirium Nocturnum, but I liked this a bit better. I honestly don’t know why.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Had this one a very long time ago when I was first getting into craft beer. Really enjoyed the subtle but complex flavours. Was one of the first Belgian beers I had and opened my eyes up to higher abv brews. Haven’t looked back since

Pours a straw yellow with a nice white foam. Smells grassy, herbal, and yeasty. Taste is light bodied, bitter, and astringent. Finish is slightly bitter and a touch of caramel.

Beautiful medium to dark golden body that is close to clear. An off-white head forms easily, but reduces to a thin layer quite quickly. Good lacing. The aroma is yeasty and very fruity with overripe banana, honey, spices and herbs. The overripe part is a bit annoying, but still a tempting smell. Medium sweet taste with a long-lasting medium bitter finish. Superb yeasty flavours with fruits (the overripe part is gone), honey, spices and an excellent vinous feel. The alcohol really does wonders for both the flavours and the mouthfeel! After the beer is swallowed and the bitterness has faded out, the warming alcohol is still very present, bringing on waves upon waves of mouth filling honey sweetness and spicy stings. This is how a beer should behave! A very nice ale indeed.

33cl bottle pours very light amber with a large white head. nice aroma of yeast and fruits. taste is lively, acidic, well balanced, champagne and fruits. the 8.5% is very well hidden (quite lethal), and there is a dr y bitterness to the finish. overall this is very nice, and quite drinkable too (bottle design is a work of art).

Flaske: gul øl med en stænk orange. Fint skumhoved, meget let diset. Duften er sødlig krydret. Smagen er meget sød, igen med en god del krydderi fra gæren. Bitterhed er der i den meget lange eftersmag, men up front er den en tand for sødlig.

On first consumption, I was probably more concerned with the legendary buzz effect of this beer and impressing my friends and in retrospect should have paid better attention to the tasting notes. In recall, this is a pleasant beer, perhaps overdone on the yeast, all mixed with subtle, exotic flavors. Well worth the experience.
