The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Aroma: Lemon/lime, orange peel, caramel apple and some grassyness. Appearance: Cloudy amber with a bright white head. Taste: Quite sweet and malty, somewhat watery. There are fairly strong banana notes in it actually and there is a decent hop presence too. Palate: Quite fizzy and not what I expected from a Belgian brewery...very powerful flavours and it seems a bit outta whack. Overall: Interesting beer, it’s like smashing a hefe and a tripel together honestly. Delirium Tremens is quite alright but not one that deserves the title of "best in the world".

330ml bottle at the Garnet. Crazy effervescence which seems to never let up. Huge foam head with thick lacing over a transparent bright straw body. Tropical fruit hop aroma is present alongside some citrus, orange zest, and alcohol. Quite light bodied with exceedingly well integrated alcohol.

Pours a clear, light straw colour. Quite minimal white head and high on carbonation. The prominent smell I am picking up is toffee and floral notes. This is a 9% beast, and it shows in the taste. I think the taste is very heavy on alcohol and the aftertaste is somewhat bitter. I think there are many better choices.

"sea of white foam red, ornage/yellow beer, highly carbonated, nice prickly mouthfeel. smells and tastes of spices...pepper...somewhat sweet with a gentle bittering in the finish. nicely done, but probably not worth the $$$."

Excelente. Muito saborosa. O barril de 5 l está a R$ 229,00. A garrafa de 330 ml está R$ 20,90 no pão de açúcar. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle poured in a chalice. A: First of all, the bottle art. Beautiful white (painted) bottle with blued label, pink elephant, crocodile and Chinese dragon. Very nice. Pours a pale clear yellow color with a big aired bubbled white head. Medium retention and some lacings left S: Complex. Sweet and fruity smell. Honey. Flowery hops. The traditional Belgian yeasts. Hints of cinnamon. Sweet malts T: Follows the nose. Malty, fruity and yeasty. Bit sweet upfront followed by quite citrus hops. Bitter-sweet Belgian style. Balanced and good M: Heavy body. High carbonation. Bit molasses.Nice bitter-sweet balance. High drinkability O: Traditional Belgian strong pale ale. Great Beer! [ BA Review @ 6/4/2011 ]

2014/10/12 - Pours a translucent yellow/gold colour with a big, soapy, white head that quickly reduces to a lasting surface film. Minimal lacing. Aroma is yeast, banana, citrus, spice, mild bubblegum and light biscuit. Taste is yeast, spice, banana, citrus, sweet apricot, light vanilla and a hint of alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium and slick with biting carbonation and a mildly sweet, slightly warming finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
