COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned.
Launched on December 26th 1989 @ 9% abv. Abv reduced from 9% to 8.5% in 2003.
The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2011 Tasted in bottle and on tap. Good balanced spicy beer. Nice yellow, with little head. On tap more attractive, first nice soury and spicy but at the end you can feel the real belgian ale character.

Pours a dark yellow, almost orange. White head that goes away quickly and leaves a nice white foam. Aroma of citrus and spice - almost like a fruity Christmasy beer. Very smooth mouthfeel. No hoppy flavor at all. Taste of clove and spice.

Pours bright golden with white head. It’s not clear, there are some particles in this beer. Hoppy and fruity aroma, peaches and belgian yeast, "champagne" aroma, but no alcohol. Tastes medium sweet, with a bit sour aftertaste. Lively carbonation and light body.

Pours opaque gold with a big frothy bone-white head. Aroma is fruity, yeast, some spiciness. Alcohol is not as well hidden as I expected, in fact it's pretty powerful. Quite nice beer overall.

Bottle. Pours brown with a good rocky head. Aroma is big dark sugary sweet, spices, cloying red fruit. Flavor is spicy, light herbal, ripe red currants, dark candy sugar, moderately yeasty. Feel is lively and relatively thin. Too sweet but much better than expected after a lot of years.

I bought a bottle at BevMo and did a search on the internet to find out more about it. Anyway, I cracked it open last night. DT is a tasty example of a Belgian strong ale. I took off points for the appearance because there wasn’t much head. The flavor was great: sharp, strong, clean with lots of citrus and clove flavors. The high alcohol (8.5%) wasn’t apparent until the end of the bottle.

Pours golden with a nice white foamy head. Nose is some citrus, yeasty, some green apple. Very high carbonation. Taste is quite strong on alcohol, yeasty. Good Belgian Strong, not fantastic.

On tap at Delirium Tap House. Light golden with a white head. Aroma and taste of fruit, yeast, light spices and alcohol. An ok one.
