The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

One of my favorite Belgian beers. Peppery aroma with a bit of spice in the flavor as well. Full body with a long finish. Hints of banana in this one as well. Love this beer!

Pours a very nice clear golden color. Aroma is boozy, orange, lemon, spicy barnyard yeast characteristics, horse blanket, honey, pear, grape, apple, dry and tart, kumquat. Tastes of honey, spice, white grape, apple, pear, slight citrus bitterness, apricot, sweet golden fruits, golden raisin, very spicy saison like yeast characteristics. Very complex beer in terms of aroma and taste. Yeast affects this beer greatly. Very good brew.

Bottle. Gold straw colour, big head. Yeast dominates the aroma, with some banana and citrus. Very carbonated, nice mouthfeel.

33cl bottle from "Cerveteca" bar in Lisbon. Pours a very golden color with a very large and thick white head that lasted very well. Aroma is of yeast. perfume and herbal hops. Flavor is yeasty (almost like bread), little sweet, booze, citrus, banana and cloves at the end, with a bitter aftertaste. It had a mild carbonation with a medium body and a dry finish with a mild presence of alcohol. A very well balanced beer, I would drink it again.

One of my favourite beers in the world. A little sweetness and clearly some alcohol in the taste, but still very elegant!

Like Mary Poppins, practically perfect in every way. Pours a lovely golden color with off white head. Head retention is OK, but not magnificent. Extraordinary balance on the taste, especially for a high alcohol beer. Basically, this is the standard by which a golden Belgian strong may be judged.

Head has dank cheese-mold pungency. Hints of formic acid finished off with a nice tang of yeasty beery alcoholic vapor. Nice malty hit on first taste which rapidly evaporates into a lengthy hoppy slide to the end. A bit clingy on the palate.

Pours a light hazy straw with crisp white head. Aroma is of basement, yeast, fruit and leather. Taste of honey, booze, gum, and a little vinous as well. Has a sweet and surprisingly big mouth feel with medium carbonation and a nice dry finish. For such a strong yeasty Belgium ale it was quite quaffable and easy to drink.
