3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Heavy carbonation, lasting head and a beer that I get excited about when I drink it. A good entry beer into Belgium beers.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is malty, yeasty, bready, a little fruity. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a faint orange hue; the head is gigantic, though not for long. A little bitter and sour in taste, but mostly spicy; more spicy than beery in fact; the alcohol reasonably well masked. Medium body, feels foamy, average carbonation, spicy and mildly sweet finish. A relatively nice beer, for the style; not so much in absolute terms.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Transfer from BA review on 7-14-12-
Poured from 750 ml bottle into Delirium Tremens snifter glass
Appearance – Pours a medium golden color with a thick white head. The head was so big upon pouring that only about 1/3 the bottle fit in the + 330 ml glass. The head had decent retention but as time carried on it eventually fades (to allow for more of a pour and) to give wonderful lacing.
Smell – The aroma is largely of bread, banana, and spice. The bready and banana aroma was complemented well with aromas of coriander and clove with smells of yeast and orange as well.
Taste – The taste is of candied sweet citrus and a good breadiness with some notes of biscuit. These strong flavors are soon met with a yeast flavors and some of the spice that was in the nose. Soon at the end there is a lighter alcohol flavor that comes to the tongue. This mingles with the sweet and spicy malt base nicely to leave a rather pleasant warming flavor on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is on the thicker and creamier side with the carbonation level being quite average. Both the carbonation and the body are quite appropriate for the beer. The thicker body coats the tongue with all the sweet citrus and bready flavors with the medium carbonation level complementing well the spice flavors that mingle on the tongue.
Overall – A wonderful tasting, very drinkable Belgian Strong pale. It has great flavors, transitions, as well as a wonderful smell and feel.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Mostly fruity with some malt background, light yeast, bit spices, wheat. Maybe serving temperature was too high, but this is not for me.. Feels bit too thin and overcarbonated. Drinkable, but nothing special

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a chalice.
The appearance was a slight hazy orange to amber/brown color with a half finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing sticking along the glass.
The smell had a nice Belgian spice (light clove/slight coriander) through some orange/lemon that seemed it was sweetened a bit like it was sugared.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned elements and combined them wonderfully.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a sessionability that wanted to rear it’s face but for the most part, just didn’t. She’s a sipper and honestly I’m okay with that.
Overall, if anything this beer was done very nicely to style and is pretty good to me.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pulled this from my cellar so this review could be a litle off as compared to newly purchased beer.
Perhaps someone out there in may have one aged like this one for comparsion purposes. I bought a case late in 2008.
Poured into a Delirium noel sniffer.
It has a light golden straw color with about an average size head, but fades fast to almost nothing. It is still well carbonated.
The aroma is slightly spicy with hints of apple cider.
Tastes a nice malty character with hints of spiciness and some dry bitterness, but not overly.
Thin body with some nice alcohol warming.
Some tripel aspects come through.
An outstanding beer well worth cellaring.
