The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Smells like freshly baked bread with a big yeast presence. Color is a pale golden straw with plenty of bubbles. Fizzy in the mouth like champagne and not too sweet or dry. A complex, slightly sour yeast flavor with hints of citrus and grape. Well-balanced, if a bit overrated.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 18D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L09_14_190. AROMA: subtle and sweet malt aroma mixed with spicy (clive) and some faint citric (Orange-like) aromas. APPEARANCE: golden color and somewhat clear. large white head with good retention and lacing. TASTE: malt sweetness with some spicy background notes. subtle orange-like esters. medium-low to medium bitterness that lingers into a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium body with medium-high carbonation. faint alcohol warmth. OVERALL: a belgian golden strong ale reference although a bit more subtle.

Single small bottle from Julio’s. Poured into a snifter. A light hazy golden color with a big frothy white head. Settles to a thick lace. Complex fruity yeast aromas and flavors. Tart-bitter bready finish. Thin fizzy mouthfeel.

On tap, poured a crystal clear pale gold, thin head with fine bubbles. Complex nose highlighted by citrus and earthy yeast scents. Overall, pleasing aroma. Crisp flavors with subtle sweetness, tastes of honey and bubblegum, mellowed out by sour citrus notes. Extremely clean and smooth considering the relatively high ABV.
