The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Pours a hazy orange tinted yellow, with a coarse and small head. The carbonation is visibly coarse, with large and effervescent bubbling. Head dissipates rapidly, leaving little trace of its presence. On the nose, the aroma is both yeasty and fresh, with mango and banana notes, followed by passion fruit. Mouthfeel is terrific. Light and mineral, with some interesting metallic notes. The yeast flavour is unique and enchanting. The carbonation is actually quite welcome and balanced! The alcohol is well integrated, even for 8.5%. Well done. Can I get something similar from America for half the price? Yes.

Complex nose. Golden haze. Fruity, estery. Palate delivers what the nose promises. Dry finish. Beautiful.

Bottle. It’s years since I’ve had this. Nose is yeasty, esters, peach strawberry. Taste is esters, straw, strawberry, pear, lots of banana with a dry thin finish. It’s a bog standard triple, that would be nowhere if it wasn’t for the fancy bottle.

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from BevMo! in Redwood City, CA. Pours gold with a foamy / airy head. Aroma is bready and floral. Taste is the same with some fruity notes on the tail. In a few years, this could be a strong contender to usher in the mainstream Belgian beer craze (Heads up InBev / Molson Coors / Heineken).

Bottle from Anglia Wine Merchants, Ely. Light gold and very clear. Bit white sudsy head. Big candy sugar and sweet yeasty bread aroma, with vanilla, banana, warming spices, citrus peel. Sweet taste with a slight fruity sour/bitter finish. Nicely carbonated palate. Warming alcohol all the way down. Exemplary. I forgot how good this was.

Farbe: kräftiges klares Gelb. Schaum: schnell weg, vgl Helles. Nase: Sehr eigen.

Looks like a swill. Smells like a swill. Taste of sweet hay and malt. Smooth. OK
