Launched on December 26th 1989 @ 9% abv. Abv reduced from 9% to 8.5% in 2003.
The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

02.11.05 750ml bottle, cork dated 2.004 Pours a hazed yellowish gold with an initially massive and frothy white head that quickly fades to a thin, coating layer of foam with sudsy bubbles. Suprisingly unattractive for some reason I don’t fully understand. Aromas are very sweet, lightly herbal, mint, touches of raw bell pepper, celery, and lemon. Hops and yeasts seem an odd mix on nose, muddled by weakly presented maltiness. Much more bitter than expected, that’s a nice surprise in such a big Belgian. Lightly floral, more herbs, some pineapple that lingers along with a yogurt like aftertaste and finish. A sort of cocoa butter flavor and aroma emerging with temp. Long, dry ending. Little alcohol dominance other than the pepperiness. So-so tasting, but I’m not enthralled; it smells funny and ain’t so pretty.

From The Beer Store (weird eh?) Clear golden yellow with white head. Strong aroma of lemons and straw. Smooth mouth feel. Slightly sweet, with lemon and straw flavours, hints of melon. This is a very lovely beer.

Lekker fris biertje maar met tonen van citrusvruchten en een zoete afdronk die niet te lang blijft hangen

Old rating. Love those pink elephants. Gold color. Spicy Belgian, yeast, some soft fruit, lightly sweet, dry finish. Solid.

Vere light taste, great color and overall flavor and mouth feel. I would highly suggest for anyone just starting their beer exploration.

Dourada envelhecida com leveduras em evidência. Aromas de malte, caramelo e cereais, e notas picantes. Sabor maltado e picante que "aquecem" ao beber, deixando esta sensação no retrogosto.

Pours a cloudy golden color with lots of sediment and big white head with good lacing. Aromas of yeast and spice. Good taste at the front but a not so good bitter finish and aftertaste.

0.5 on tap @ Delirium Tap House, Brussels. Quite refreshing, better than any lager. The high ABV does not taste at all.
