3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 ClubGonzo (1979) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 7, 2011
Bottle from EtreGourmet webshop. Pours a slightly hazy light golden body with a near-gushing, massive foamy white head. The aroma puts it firmly in the Belgian ale tradition: yeast, sugar, pale malts and hints of honey and subtle floral tones. Taste is very similar: sweet, semi-dry yeasty tones with underlying currents of alcohol and sugar. Pale malts and dry, crisp hops in the finish. A classic Belgian: a tad bit boring but highly drinkable and not as alcohol-ridden/phenolic as many can be when they climb higher on the ABV scale. Pretty nice.

Bottle, bought @ EG.
Gusher. Murky yellow pour, quite pale. Lovely, giant, creamy, white head. Aroma has wheat, brewing cereal, general malty sweetness, some bretty undertones and orange peel. High carbonation, kinda light if good grainy palate. Flavour is mild, sweet, lots of wheat, oranges, curacao, grainy, again a mild bretty undertone. Fresh, drinkable and with an okay bitterish finish.
