3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 19, 2005
(Bottled) Opaque, darkish orange color with a quite small head and not much lace. Pretty strong, white-wineous and alcoholic, caramely blackcurrant aroma. Toffee-caramely, moderately malty and alcoholic, fruity flavor. Sweet, sugary-malty, sticky aftertaste. Medium-bodied, quite thick and alcoholic palate with hard and foamy carbonation. Quite tasty and pleasant tripel with at least some character, despite the alcoholic feel. Not a classic, but different. The sugar gets somewhat disturbing towards the end of glass.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 lachesis (758) - St Idesbald, BELGIUM - FEB 18, 2005
Light hazy gold-blond with orange shine and faint colored head. Soft malt aroma’s with a touch of sweet alcohol and peaches from a tinn. Faint hint of flowers and vegetal accents. The taste light malty with a ordinary sweetness of alcohol and cakes. In the afthertaste there is some fruityness and hopbitterness.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 JorisPPattyn (6729) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - AUG 10, 2004
Slight gushing to irregular, good head, fast collapsing; orange-amber beer with pinkish shine. Faint vanilla, bit of rosewater, roasted and a bit of alcohol form the nose. Sharp scorched taste, flavour as from human sweat. Again, alcoholic. Sharpness completely overwhlems all mouthfeel there is. I still seem to detect rather thinnish body. This is never going to be highly noted in my book. Sharp, alcoholic and poor emptiness - can do much better.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 diabel (1537) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - AUG 6, 2004
Lightly hoppy, moderately yeasty aroma. Frothy, off-white head, virtually not lacing and mostly diminishing. Hazy, orange body. Lightly acidic, moderately bitter initial flavour. Lightly bitter (long) finish. Medium to fully bodied. Lively carbonation. Nothing special, just an ordinary abbey ale
2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 tiggmtl (4475) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 9, 2004
Sweet malt and somewhat citrus-lemon, yeasty aroma. Cloudy orange-tan body with decent white head that recedes to cover with marginal lacing. Quietly malty with a hint of alcohol and some yeasty flavours. Rather plain. Doesn’t really seem like a tripel. Fizzy mouthfeel. Bottle (sampled at Mondial 2004).
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 7, 2004
Hazy yellow orange hue with a thin white head, with some laces. Nose of raising bread and ligth alcohol. Tatste of light malts, yeasts, and alcohol, almost like a yeasty Faxe 10...not a compliment at ale...unidimensional body, not interesting ....
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 16, 2004
(33cl Bottle) Pours a medium, white, foamy head and a cloudy orange body. Nose of a ton of yeast. Fizzy, acidic and tinny. Mainly yeast with slight hops. Rather poor example of this style.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 MartinT (6350) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 19, 2004
Light cereal and citrus in minty fresh character...Phenolic yeast profanity fading away in an uncomplex ending of nourishing water...A quaffable tripel which looks great, feels good but which is practically tasteless for the style and devoid of any personality...

Malty, slightly hoppy aroma. Malty, just a bit sticky flavor. caramelly with just a hint of bitterness, apple and some alcohol. Absolutely drinkable, but bland for a tripel.
