3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 argo0 (9034) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 22, 2002
Deep dark brown with a nice head. Malty sweet caramel aroma, and the flavor is a clean version of the same. Very pleasant easy drinking beer.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 JoeMcPhee (6835) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 2, 2005
Dark amber colour, sticky white head. Very nice light fruity aroma, toasted malt, plums and a touch of chocolate. Flavour however, was very weak and watery. Light sweet malt but there was a strange waxy taste that I don’t like at all. Maybe this was off, but I had it at Volo like many others.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Lubiere (6707) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 26, 2009
A dark clear brown dunkel with a mahogany hue. A wonderful aroma of ginger bread, vanilla, cinnamon hearts. In mouth, a light dunkel with bananas, cinnamon, a bit of ginger, well balanced. A great dunkel, atypical in nature. On tap at C’est What, March 21, 2009.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sammy (5888) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 22, 2005
UPDATED: APR 4, 2005 Yeasty aroma, initially some sweetness and grainess from the nutmeg or whatever. creamy mouthfeel though with thinness. It may have been nirotap without C’est What telling us. Sourness, yet Satisfying bitterness in aftertaste. Chocolate brown colour.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jerc (5444) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 25, 2003
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2005 Re-Rate March 2005 - Dark ruby tinged brown body with a beige head and nice lacing on the glass. Malty aroma , and a touch of yeasty "tartness" over notes of caramel. The precise words for which escape me. Similar flavours with a sort of dry nuttiness balancing the malty caramel sweetness. Nice medium bodied palate. Nice to see another great offering from Denisons. 7/4/7/3/15 3.6<P> Original Rating Part of a sampler. Dark brown. Sweet and malty in both the aroma and the flavour. Not bad. 4/3/5/3/13 2.8
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Radek Kliber (5171) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - JUL 20, 2002
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2007 On tap (Volo) 500ml
Appearance :Brown –ruby copper with presentable rocky tanned top.
Nose :Mineral, fruity Saaz like aroma with grainy overtones. Refreshing. Flavour/Palate: Sweet base with clean gentle roast. Golden-brown malt. Sweet middle with slightly earthier finish. Perhaps a bit lighter stylistically than some murkier German dunkels but not shallower by any means. Clean classic.
