UPDATED: MAY 11, 2003 Re-rating to reflect the new Mill St. version, although it's really not very different, and my numerical ratings haven't changed. I'm SO glad that this beer has been revived after the closure of Denison's Brewpub earlier this year. It remains a world class example of it's style, with the classic banana and clove combo in the aroma, wonderful fruit and yeast in the flavour, and that amazingly crisp and lingering finish that keeps you coming back for more. I can't wait for patio season to start so I can sit in the sun on a warm afternoon and enjoy a pint or two (or three...) of this. Ahhhhhh...

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2005 Re-rate. Not much else needs to be said. My original score was a little low (low 3’s) only because I rated it from a keg at a private party and the serving conditions were far from ideal. I’ve certainly changed in my appreciation of different styles in the past 2 years as well. I love the Banana in the aroma, the full bodied chewiness, the perfect appearance when served right (I usually get mine at Volo) - this is wonderful stuff and the brewer is a fantastic person to chat with. A must have if you’re visiting Toronto and a regular item for those of us who live here.

Had this on tap at the Bow and Arrow in Toronto. I love wheat beers and I was not dissapointed. It has a stronger banana taste than some other wheat beers I have had. A very refreshing beer and I will definitely have it again when I go back. A great wheat beer.

This made a trip to Toronto worthwhile. Enjoyed this on tap at a place called BierMarkt, which has a fantastic selection. Since this is a local brew and chances of me making it back up to the Great White North anytime soon were remote, I led off with this one and was not displeased. The body was rich and golden as typical of a good hefe. The head was thick and creamy. No orange wedge was served and that was nice. It smelled of banana nut crunch and bubblegum. At the first swallow, the brew was slightly chilled and the taste mimicked the aromas. If there weren’t a hundred other beers on the menu to get through, I would have had another.

Never has a beer so changed my mind on what exactly beer is. Amazing clove aroma opens up into a refreshing Banana and slight citrus taste, that will leave you never wanting for more..... until it’s gone, and you want MORE! I have to admit, it is my second favorite style of beer, so I have a soft spot for this Oakville brew. I never had the pleasure of enjoying Micheal’s pub down on King, but one day (cross your fingers), hopefully we could see it again. And tonnes of respect for his decision to remain small (with high quality).

On tap at the Victory Cafe. Took off the lemon slice as fast as I could. Cloudy ochre colour with slight head and nice lacing. Yeasty sweet aroma. Yeasty bread flavour with traces of bubblegum and bananas, and spices. Very nice aftertaste. One my all time favourite beers.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2006 Draught at the Victory Café - came with a big white head, and was a hazy, cloudy yellow/orange. Aroma is lightly spicy, with a big kick of banana and citrus. Taste is yeasty, and creamy in the mouth, well carbonated, with flavours of citrus, cloves and banana. Lots of banana, in fact, following long into this beers beautiful finish. This is the best hefeweizen I’ve had. Stunning! Hopefully this will be sold by the bottle in the near future...I would buy it all the time, and so would you.

On tap. Finally tried this one... Beautiful bright hazy yellow with slight white head. An explosion of citrus, banana, and clove, with a wheaty texture. Exceptional fruity flavouring, while maintaining a strong weissbier character. Just awesome.
