Got Stout? (173) - USA - MAY 17, 2005
22 oz. bottle for $2.00. The beer pours very thin with a rapidly evaporating head. I must admit that I had the sniffles when I tested it, but the aroma came through as a sweet, mild chocolatey roast. The drink tastes exactly like Zurheide chocolate ice cream! The flavor is a little thin, and the palate lingers on as mildly burnt oats and toffee. This would be an excellent beer to drink regularly, if anybody could get it that often.

Pours to a deep brown with a light red hue. The head looks foamy and tan. The aroma is overly done. Cocoa puffs and woodyness. The flavor is chocolatey like cocoa puffs and chocolate rice krispies. The palate is so-so and perhaps a touch grainy.

Shiney clear reddish brown aroma. Thin creamy tan head. Very dry obtrusive roasty aroma. Dark chocolate covered cherries too. Dark chocolatey sweet malt. Not that bad, more of a sweet stout to me though.

DavidP (1745) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 22, 2005
Clear dark brown body, light tan head. Roasty, chocolately aroma - smells a lot like unmashed chocolate malt - touch of dry dustiness too. In the flavor the chocolate malt sweetness comes out more along with some milky creaminess. Not much else going on here, perhaps some acidic roast in the finish. A nice stout.

MIBRomeo (2108) - Wisconsin, USA - NOV 22, 2005
brownish red color w/ a nice thick tan head made up of small bubbles well laced. Odd roasty coffee malt aroma hints of a tart chocolate. Good palate well coated. Flavor is a bit bland some weak coffee and some weak bittering.. just an underwhelming unimpressive stout.

Acceptable, coffee-chocolate aroma. Dark color, reminiscent of coffee or cola. Medium head, but disappeared rather quickly. Mildly bitter, pretty decent flavor, with a nice aftertaste. Nice body and texture. Overall, not bad, I would have this again.

fuyajo (229) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 30, 2005
pours to a small head. Dark brown, but slighly translucent. Roasty, coffee-like aroma. Thin mouthfeel moves to a medium-bodied taste. However, the finish is very good - nice and malty with hints of coffee and chocolate. A good all-around stout, especially for the $2 price.

StewardofGondor (1934) - Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 25, 2005
Semi-translucent and scarlet brown in color with no head. Aroma is chocolate syrup, instant coffee and some caramel stickiness. The overall nose on this gives the impression that it’s very manufactured, not in an artesian sense by any means. Flavor is a little light and watered down. Roasted pecans come out more than any other traits. Some cocoa powder to add the staple chocolatey accents but this is more or less a dime-a-dozen rendition here. Weak and dispersing on the palate. Did they use hops? Roasty, nutty finish.

Festival tap: Dark brown with bakers chocolate nose with hints of grape. Acidity is evident on my lips. Creamy, but light on malt flavors, some chocolate and some grape. Chalky at the finish.

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2004 Sampled this beer at the Great Taste of the Midwest in Madison WI. Even though my scores on this are accurate and well researched, ?Da Man? wants me to say more about the beer, so I will. I like stouts, but this one seemed kinda bla. Actually poured the rest of this one out.
