Cask. Deep goden colour, small white head. Aroma is wood, spices and some hints of pine. Flavour is wood, toffee, but still creating a big bitterness. Aftertaste turns more into wooden sourness.

August 13. 2005 in Fox & Hounds (Freehouse) in Houston, Scotland. Amber with a nice creamy head. The aroma has notes of fruit, and so does the flavour, that has a citrussy acidity in the finish. The overall impression is a dry and somewhat thin-bodied beer.

GBBF, 2005. Sheep feature a lot in British summer beers, especially the golden summer ales. This pun on a castrated ram is perhaps going a bit too far. The beer has a crisp caramel flavour and a light fragrance. It’s a pleasant quaffing ale.

Cask (gravity dispense), GBBF, August 2005. Ho hum. Another golden summer ale. Nothing wrong with it but there were so many beers of this style on offer that it needed something a bit special to grab my attention. This beer did, but it was the rather inappropriate (for this style) butterscotch and doughy malt in the aroma. Better on the palate - fairly dry and moderately crisp. A good looker though. Seemed somehow brighter and more vibrant than some of the others. Just goes to show that first impressions don’t always count. Perfectly adequate but not too exciting.

Cask. Golden colour with a white creamy head, good lacing. Aroma and taste is all about the butterscotch. If you don’t like it, the beers not for you. I quite enjoyed it.

Sweaty herbal floral notes with some buttery diacetyl. Clear, deep golden blonde with low white head that recedes to ring. Sweat, cheese, and huge buttery diacetyl flavour with fair finishing bitterness. Low carbonation. Watery and somewhat thin. Cask at GBBF 2005.

Cask@GBBF 05’. fairly dry and on the hoppy side i suppose. Some bitterness in the finish and fairly dry. Not really that bad, just a little bit thin.

Cask at GBBF. Gold. Diacetyl buttery aroma, some hop, bit cloying. Not my favourite
