3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Opaque black with a slight tan head and no carbonation. Aroma of roasted malt, some toffee and a hint of creaminess. Surpsisingly light mouth feel, with sweet flavours of dark fruit, chocolate and caramel, finishing off pleasantly dry with some warming alcohol. Very good.

Caught this fellow after bagging a few birds in the Lakes. A fine stout, I would say, even though Lady Crabapple is the expert on such matters.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very dark ruby, almost opaque, with an off white head...perhaps a bit on the thin side, but thats ok as it lasts well down the glass. The nose is an amazing mix of coffee, malt & spice...lovely stuff. Smooth and malty, with a pronounced coffee flavour, the finish goes on for ages...........! Bottled version, Asda Carlisle.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 24, 2008 Friday afternoon session, Cask, Covfest ’08, and listed at 6.05%. Over a session, that 20th of a percent could make all the difference. 13th beer of the afternoon and my notes read, ’Tup. Ah. Bit pisd 2b honest but silky/smoky Nic choc charcter. Ckoc w red pep fru. Mm 15’. I think that meant this was a tasty, well-conditioned, chocolate-accented stout with some background fruitiness, and it was time to go home and wriggle around on the carpet with my legs in the air.

Bottle, poured a dark amber with a light tan bubbly head. A nice roasetd malt aroma. Coffee malt flavours, smooth but with a good bitterness that increased through the swallow.
