A rich full flavoured, strong stout with a roast coffee aroma. The dominant roast character is balanced by a warming sweetness and a raisiny, fruit-cake taste which lingers on into the long aftertaste, making this a very satisfying drink.

Bottled. Deep rubyish brown colour with small beige head. Aroma is plum, raisins, pudding and some mild grass, fruits and herbs. Flavour is much the same in a very nice balance. Quite pleasant stout.

Clear dark brown color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, coffee, fruity sour and vanilla notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium to light, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090122]

Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Opaque black with a slight tan head and no carbonation. Aroma of roasted malt, some toffee and a hint of creaminess. Surpsisingly light mouth feel, with sweet flavours of dark fruit, chocolate and caramel, finishing off pleasantly dry with some warming alcohol. Very good.

Caught this fellow after bagging a few birds in the Lakes. A fine stout, I would say, even though Lady Crabapple is the expert on such matters.

Very dark ruby, almost opaque, with an off white head...perhaps a bit on the thin side, but thats ok as it lasts well down the glass. The nose is an amazing mix of coffee, malt & spice...lovely stuff. Smooth and malty, with a pronounced coffee flavour, the finish goes on for ages...........! Bottled version, Asda Carlisle.

UPDATED: APR 24, 2008 Friday afternoon session, Cask, Covfest 08, and listed at 6.05%. Over a session, that 20th of a percent could make all the difference. 13th beer of the afternoon and my notes read, Tup. Ah. Bit pisd 2b honest but silky/smoky Nic choc charcter. Ckoc w red pep fru. Mm 15. I think that meant this was a tasty, well-conditioned, chocolate-accented stout with some background fruitiness, and it was time to go home and wriggle around on the carpet with my legs in the air.
