3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at The Falling Rock in Denver, CO. Pours a black body with a finger-width, frothy and slightly fizzy, dark brown head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is big dark chocolates and a fairly heavy roast backing with a good amount of cherries giving off a light tartness. Some tobacco and a bit of a fruity Belgian yeast ester. Flavor is similar and a bit thin feeling up front. Lots of cherries with a light tartness and a good amount of Belgian yeast esters with pretty heavy roasts and a thinner dark chocolate malt backing. A bit of a burnt wood towards the end and a hint of licorice as this finishes dry, roasty, and moderately earthy leaving a medium bitterness along with a good amount of slightly tart cherries. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-thin body and a medium-light, fizzy carbonation. Overall, this wasnít bad, but I wasnít the biggest fan. Heavy roasts, a thin body, and slightly fizzy. I do like the cherry flavor with the light tartness, however, and the Belgian yeast was nice. Okay.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour on tap at Freshcraft, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of big cherry, milk and slight dark chocolate notes with a hint of espresso and roasted malts, very slight caramel and dark fruits as well, with a very slight ester note. Taste is more in the chocolate and cherry realm, a bit excessive on the sweet cherry but mixes well into the sweet chocolate, slight hints of esters but not much, some slight roast finishing fairly sweet. Well made.

nose of burnt motor oil / tar / char / old pipe tobacco. chalky and dry with muddled and gross (and limp) cocktail cherries and dry bitter bakers chocolate early, turning to fruit pie filling later. chalky, rough, pasty, sour, tart and fizzy. could do without the burnt licorice finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Iím actually quite a fan of this one - fairly smooth and balanced for a strong brew - medium dry, with notes of bittersweet chocolate, coffee, light woody notes - the cherry is fairly strong, tannic and tart, like they blended a kriek with a stout - tart, lingering finish - pretty good.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap @ Denver Beer Company. Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, burnt toast, coffee, dark chocolate.Taste is roasted malts, some yeast, overpowering rich cocoabeans, coffee, sour cherries. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, high carbonation. Cocoa is to much for me, messy beer.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Heavy dark dark murky brown with a laceful tan head that quickly receded to a nice thin cap. Has a wonderful aroma of milk chocolate, a dark-fruity estery Belgo yeast, a soft non-tart cherry tone, and a bit of dark roasty malts. Taste is sweet and big, with cherries coming through throughout the entire profile, sweet and tart and dark. Smooth dark chocolaty tones meet an earthy and stone-fruit estery Belgian yeast tone, with a big backbone of roasty earthy chocolate covered toffee. Rich and complex!
