draft. amber with an off-white head. first whiff is crunchberry cereal. no shit.... it’s the powdery, re-formed corn meal and sugar with artificial berry flavoring smell you get from a just-opened box of cereal. taste-wise, let’s see how it is, okay? well, first sip up front on the tongue pretends like it’ll continue with the captain crunch fun but instead it turns to husky grains and sweaty lawn clippings steaming inside the lawnmower catch bag, all of this before turning more sweet / crunchy / toasty like some sugar-ladened stale bagel. not sure what to this of a hop that smells like sugar cereal and tastes like mulch. okay.

Clear gold - simultaneously too bitter and too sweet - sticky sweet, sugary maltiness - strong citrus from the hops that almost works with the sweetness - soapy, herbal/pepper spice and bitterness - tropical notes through the middle create a flavor not unlike syrupy sweet canned pineapple - a hint of sulphur way in the back - rotten citrus finish, with lingering sticky sweetness - they’ve made some good ipas, but this one is a mess.

On tap at brewery. Pours out a clear amber with a small head. Had a nice aroma of burnt toffee sweetness with a firm tone of citrus and grapefruity tones. Unfortunately, grapefruit rind kinda dominated the flavor. The hop variety is so potent and citrus-rindy that it was a little hard to enjoy for me. There were some undersweet toffee tones in the background, but it’s too West Coast for me--much too bitter.
