Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish pour with thin fizzy brown head, aroma brought notes of some slight caramel, toffee, hints of sweet chocolate and roasty notes with lots of spice and almost cinnamon notes in there, touch of grassy earth as well. Taste was a bit muddled, some slight bready and toffee malts, touch of grass, earth, hints of cinnamon, clove and spice in there, finishing spicy and dry. Interesting.

Tap @ Denver Beer Co. Pours a deep brown appearance with a light brown head. Roasty black coffee, a touch smoky, earthy aroma. Somewhat fruity, mildly smoky, burnt coffee, roasted flavor. Some acidity. Not all that great.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 onceblind (2532) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 8, 2012
Black with a thin beige head that doesn’t last too long. The aroma has some dark roasty sweetness and some very light coffee esters, as well as that certain twang of black grains. Taste is a little too roasty throughout with a quiet semi-chocolaty sweetness, finishing a little smoother with less roastiness and more well-rounded stouty sweetness. Also some faint coffee tones on the finish. Just not a big fan for the first 2/3rds of the ride.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 notalush (4172) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 5, 2012
Dark brown, fizzy, cola-like appearance - aroma of light smoke, mineral and cocoa - carbonation is a bit rough in the mouth - flavor is dry and smoky up front, but a chocolate sweetness quickly develops that lasts through the finish - a kind of sharp acidity develops towards the end, which compounds the abrasive feeling of the carbonation - rough.

On tap at Denver Beer poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of roastiness, coffee and bitter chocolate. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of coffee, roastiness and bitter chocolate with a crisp lingering coffee finish.
