Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours a deep brownish-black color with a medium beige head that recedes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and sweet malt. Medium, dry body with a lightly roasted coffee flavor as well as smoked malt and chocolate. The finish is a light dose of espresso with a malty aftertaste. Above average overall.

tap at Denver ChopHouse - Pours near black and has the expected dark roast malt aroma. The roast malt flavor is joined by some coffee notes and then some hops in the finish. It’s medium to full bodied and overall pretty good.

Tap at LoDo location.
Pours a deep black with mahogany amber highlights. Aroma is isopryl coffee chocolate. Flavor is smoky malt with chocolate bits and coffee powder with a red wine finish. A bit thin on the tongue. Too winey; needs more chocolate/roasted malt presence.

Dark brown with some red light at the bottom. FIltered. Soft textured body, abundant roast and black patent malt. Body is medium to light, perhaps too flabby and watery. Stale/old roast and a light malted milk ball note. Simple but not terrible.

Draught at the brewery. Easy drinking dry stout. Nice notes of baker’s chocolate, some smoke and dark roasted malt. A little coffee bitterness in the finish.

Draft at Denver Chophouse 11/4/08-Pours a black body with a small ring for a head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Flavor was the same with a bit of bacon and smoke and it had a nice smooth finish. This medium to full bodied brew was a nice drinking stout.

On tap at the denver ChopHouse, dark brown color, with a creamy tan-colored head, mild mochaish, roasted malt nose, with some faint black coffee, chocolate accents, with a hint molasses, liquorice in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate, with a light sweet mochaish, cocoa, roasty malt character, with a mild brown chocolatey accent, with some espresso, coffeeish, vanilla flavors, leading towards a sweet roasty, dry coffee finish.
