COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big, black, bold and beautiful. This is a strong stout brewed with a generous helping of flaked oats. It is lightly carbonated and nitrogen propelled through a fancy spout that strips the gas from a solution, leaving a creamy head.

Draft at Denver Chophouse. Deep brown to near black with ruby edges. Nose is roasty, some sweet maltiness, chocolate, light coffee and some hints of vanilla. Taste is more roasted malts, chocolate, light coffee, and subtle vanilla. Body is light-medium but creamy and smooth. Finishes with more roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee and a bit of alcohol emerging.

Aroma is a concentrated roast malt and chocolate affair. Dark brown to black in color with a quickly fading, wispy tan head. Bitter roasted fore. No creamy non-bitter sweet stout smoothness like I was expecting from an Oatmeal stout...fairly hop bitter with mild roast bitter notes. The hoppiness lingers long into the finish. Confusing beer. Seems to have gone wrong in a few different areas. It has no oatmeal aided creaminess and little roasted notes. seems to rely mostly on bitter hops to provide what a good stout should provide with roasted malt.

10.02.05 Tap at brewpub. Sad, watery looking, cream soda brown, there was NOT a creamy head as this description states. Background aromas of faint peat. Watery. Something like rustoleum. Something dry and chalky in the background with some weak, weak roast. Did I mention watery? No way.

Tap at brewery. Bad batch??? Pours a weak, listless brown. Aroma is weak malt and sweetness. Flavor is weak chocoloate with a malty finish. Palate is watery. This is an OATMEAL stout???

Draught @ the brewery. Black ruby color. Light acrylic paint scent, gluey aroma, with lightly malty tones. On the palate, hints of light smoke and burnt currants are present, along with hints of coffee and chocolate and only hint of Elmer’s. This was the best beer at the brewery.
