2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 rangerred (336) - Johnson City, Tennessee, USA - APR 1, 2012
Had on tap.
Arrived a nearly clear amber with a thick one finger head.
Smells very piney, like and evergreen forest or a christmas tree farm. Not much malt detectable.
Taste like someone poured a shot of gin into an amber ale. Overwhelming pine leading to a harsh, acrid bitterness on the back of the throat, a tiny bit of bready grain is present but is overwhelmed by the pine and bitterness. Not balanced at all and not good.
I’m a little surprised and disappointed by this beer. I seem to remember it being much better the last time I had it which was quite awhile ago. I would love to support my local brewery but this beer has GOT to improve.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2011 Pours a deep amber with a nice off-white head. The aroma is not that prominent, especially for an IPA. The taste is very nice though, with a perfect amount of bitterness. Tastes more like an English-Style IPA than an American. Overall a good beer. 3.7

Another good brew.

On tap at the Kingsport Grocery. Earthy aroma, with hints of citrus. Not my favorite IPA’s, but the best of the Depot Street beers I’ve tried.
