3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rustyham (1396) - Nashville, USA - NOV 28, 2010
Nearly opaque, reddish-black, off-white head. Aroma is pecans, slight maple. Flavor starts off really thin and watery, then you get a little sour nutiness, and some caramel malt. This beer starts really slow, but grows on you. Growler from the brewery.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 nearbeer (2656) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 14, 2012
Draft pint. Opaque brown with a lasting creamy quarter inch of foam. Nose is caramel, cocoa and toasted nut. Flavor is maple, coffee, cocoa, light citrus and toasted nut. Light-medium body is smooth with carbonation, lightly sweet, but well balanced by the roast, and a nice drinker.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 HopKitty (59) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 29, 2010
very dark, opaque, yellow ochre head, minimal lacing. Aroma contains a subtle nutty, roasty chocolate. Taste is not too sweet, like a hint of agave, not like the average porter, flavors are fizzy and disappear quickly, easy to drink like Guiness.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 lithy (2995) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 16, 2009
Thick foamy dark tan head over a dark brown body, red tints. Aroma is sweet, malty, chocolate, maple syrup, nutty. Taste is more sweetness, chocolate, caramel, fruity, syrup, maple sap, and a pecan nutty oilyness.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 NachlamSie (2146) - Tennessee, USA - DEC 3, 2007
2 day old growler. Pours a deep red/black with a pretty good tan head. The aroma is maple up front with baking chocolate, nut shells, and thin coffee. Carbonation is fairly active and the mouthfeel is a bit thin, but that helps make the maple flavor not seem so syrupy. Maple is up front again on the tastebuds, but it is not overkill. In the mix I get nutshells, bitter chocolate, and a sweeter, chewy nut character as well. This is nothing exciting, but it is drinkable. I’m glad the maple flavor was not too overdone.
