Large light tan head tops the close to black pour. Immediately roasty, grainy and coffee-like nose with limited sourness works well. In the mouth, the focus slides towards coffee and solely coffee which makes it quite simple, but frankly well extracted and rather pure flavours, so it still hits the spot.

Cask. A deep red beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel as well as lighter notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and caramel, leading to a dry finish.

Black and tan beer with pleasant initial flavours of milk chocolate, toffee and butterscotch and roast malt. Sadly these disappear to an ignominious watery, oaty finish. Like a lot of my school reports: showed promise but just couldn’t be arsed.

Cask, OOTV/Vin IV, Leicester. Pours dark ruby with minimal tan head. Light smoky aroma. Thin, chocolate-milky flavour with some sweetness but not enough tang or bitter balance for me.
