Cask @ The Great Western during the RB Black Country Bash. The pour’s gold with a small head. The nose is peach, pear. Nice summery fruits. A bit of honeyed grass. Countryside. The taste is honey. Mild lemony hop bitterness. More pear. Pale malt. Light body, fine carbonation. Overall, quite pleasant. An easy, summery beer.

On tap at the brewpub
This was a passable beer but ultimately nothing more than a distraction. I was just waiting to pass some time before the beer festival opened down the street. Based on this, and one other sample, I probably will not be returning any time soon to get more ticks at the Brewery Tap.

Aroma / Appearance - A golden transparent base is coppery and flat (as almost all cask ales are). Caramel syrup, Twix, and light malts give it some character. Overall though it is just another ESB from a hand pump.

Flavor / Palate - Honey, melons, and a bittersweet tang wrap around the tongue. A burst of orange peels carries into the mild bitter finish. This then dissipates with seconds. It is a good session beer but much like too many other cask ales suffers from the curse of "real ale." It’s worth a tick but not much more.

Black Country Beano. Cask in the Great Western. Clear bright gold beer, tiny white head. Light palate, airy. Fine carbonation. Good orange peel hops over light mellow malt. Light finish. Very good marmalade here! Tastes like a Golden. Looks like too.

Cask at the Great Western, Wolvo, on the Rate Beer Black Country Bash, 06/07/13. Clear golden with a thin off white head. Nose is citrus, grpaefruit, hops, orange, caramel. Taste comprises bready malts, orange pith, light hops, mineral notes, biscuity. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitterness in the finish. Decent hopped up ESB.

Cask conditioned at The Great Western Arms, Wolverhampton. Gold with white head. Quite a big beer for so early in the day, but this had a flowery, fruity character, some peachiness, some sweetish mango then a noticeable alcohol kick. Decent enough.

On cask at Three Tuns, Dronfield - a hazy golden pour with a white head, the haze taking some time to clear. The nose is grapefruit, and very strong tropical fruits, the taste is almost floral, with a heavy bite of kumquat. Not too gassy, not too oily. Refreshing, but strong. Not a session beer.

Cask. Slightly hazy gold with a healthy white head. Nose is spicy - zests and mango - roses. Tropical taste - mango, malt biscuit, hoppy hoppy hoppy. Finish is bitter and full. Lush.

Off cask at brewery tap in derby. quite nice I guess. One of those ales that only has flavour because of its strength.

Hand pulled at the Great Western, Wolverhampton. Big golden ale. Delicious hops: lime, fairy liquid. Perfect bite and balance. Really good.

Cask. A dark golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt as well as lighter notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as a lighter note of alcohol, leading to a dry finish.
