Cask@London Drinker. Lightly hoppy golden ale. Smooth, and soft mouthfeel, which is on the drier side of things. Quite pleasant to drink, but with a name like Triple Hop, it could have done with a more assertive hop character.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Crispy dry hops to start, with tight, sticky, glassy sharpness, with some lego. Bad finish with some loose straw, watery dryness and chupa tinge.

Woodlands Hotel Beer Fest 2011 - Light amber colour with thick white head. Slightly tangy start, watery bitter body and a sour citric finish. Lots of hops. Leaves a sour aftertaste lingering.

Cask conditioned at Minehead Beer Fest ’11. Gold to amber with no head. Quite a malty beer, there is a dry bitterness, leafy with a hint of earthiness. There is just a bit of wow factor missing.

Cask - Market Porter, London. Poured a clear golden colour with very little in the way of a head. Lightly acidic apple notes, almost like a sharp white wine. Grassy bitterness succeeds some initial acidity and finishes with almonds on the aftertaste. Crisp and refreshing in the sun, touches of drying carbonation and an OK length on the end.

Cask, Leicester Fest 10. Golden with an off-white foam. Aromas are hay and citrus with grain. Grapefruit with corn. Flavours are grain with citrus. Cardboard with herbal notes and spices. Getting bored of average beers of this style.

Tried this at the Mill Hotel in Chester (UK), at their real ale bar. Appearance: Hazy golden colour, with a small creamy head, which showed really good retention. Aroma: Unsurprisingly the first aromas that bursts through are hops, lots of hops. There is a slight bready maltiness in the background. Sharp citrus aromas come through as well. Taste: As with the aroma, hops dominate, providing a bitter taste throughout. Citric flavours are also present from the start, with an acidic yeasty taste. The bitterness is still present at the end but slightly mellowed out leaving a short-lasting aftertaste. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, smooth, and creamy. Drinkability: It’s easy to drink but nothing special. The flavours are nice but again, nothing too special. There are some brilliant English Pale Ales about, unfortunately, this just doesn’t offer what they do.

DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2009
Cask handpull, Vin Quatre, Leicester. Slightly dusty amber with a creamy white lid. Sweet malt, funfair red dummy, mint leaf, fresh cut evergreen, dandelion and chlorine aroma. Mouthful of grass cuttings; differently hoppy with bags of leafy green outdoor character, good bitterness to finish. Not what I expected, but a refreshing twist on what a hoppy beer can taste like. Flymo IPA.
