50 cL bottle. Pours dark orange, deep golden and with a small off-white head. Mild citrusy hops aroma. Sweet, roasted malt and slight liqourice in the initial flavour. Towards breadish and yet with a distinct hops note on top. Dry and bitter finish with a lasting mix of roasted malt and fruity hops notes.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Fantastic woody aroma, like an old oak chest...doesn’t quite live up to those grand first wafts, but offers a different, malty sweetness. flavours of apple chutney dominates earthy smokiness, odd sour finish and too thin though.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Hazy copper with a large off white head. Aromas are fudge and sweet toffee with citrus, dark syrup and bitter medicine. Flavours are malty with yeast and liquorice bitterness. Quite earthy with a bitter, dry finish. An odd beer, in that it is both quite tasty and thin.

Cask conditioned at Far from the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Dark copper with no head. Fruity sour apples and sweetish whilst being quite tart on the palate. Thin and slightly watery. Not too good at all unfortunately.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Cask at the Lion Inn, New Basford, Nottingham. The deep copper colour of this ridiculously-named beer has a definite appeal; however, the thin consistency and sour flavour do not.
