4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 DanielBrown (2718) - Birmingham (via Leicester), - MAY 15, 2006
Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Thick, lustrous black, with a little cream head. Obviously this was performing a lot better by the time that I had it- maybe Glen sampled it fresh on or not settled or whatnot. Anyway, I really enjoyed it - creamy, fruity, a little sweet choc. Fresh, good balance and thickness, with a consistent flavour throughout. Very nice stuff.

Cask (gravity dispense) at the Pigs Ear Beer Festival, London on 6 December 2006. Very dark brown colour with a thin beige head. Very strongly roasted burn malt aroma. Nutty, with more burnt malt on the palate. Firm mouthfeel with plenty of weight - more than usual for a mild. N excellent flavoursome mild.

Cask@Pig Ear BF 06. Some subtle roasted malt flavours, with a soft acidity. Some soft caramel and chocolate also come through. Finish is a touch watery. Not bad. decent mild.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Pigs Ear BF. Black colour. Bit of yeast, bit of choc. Quite a nice mild, bit meaty, bit of smokey bacon. I rather like it. Some charcoal. Nice.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 maeib (6637) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - DEC 13, 2006
Cask conditioned - gravity dispense. Pigs Ear BF. A very dark brown mild with off-white bubbles for a head. The aroma is very very toasty, smoked and burnt. A little over-powering to be true. The taste is dry, oily and fishy. Very very bready malts. Tastes like a reconstruction of an olden days mild.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 imdownthepub (7491) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 14, 2006
Cask conditioned at The Wellington, Birmingham. Reddish brown with white head. Tastes rather like a rushed out mild, some fruitiness with a watery malt body. A little late hoppiness, but the beer doesn’t seem to fit together. Uninteresting.
