Pint at the bar in Whitefriars, Coventry, waiting for Hayd’s Gwince to settle- amazed to see it is still dispensed with such farcical, time-consuming ceremony. Orange gold, low white head. Honeyed orange aroma. Grass and apricot notes; touch of apple. Tea and honey with wafery afters. Slight, clean, good tea notes- maybe corn. Not wintery but certainly better than some of Derventio’s other stuff.

On cask at The Congress, Longton. Pours golden with white froth. More like a summer hoppy ale with a good malt balance. Pleasant but not a winter style. I do like Derventio beers

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2010 Cask Conditioned handpump King Billy Northampton. (The slippy slidy crawl). A pale gold coloured beer with a white head. A sweet aroma with hints also of lemon. The taste is a bit sticky and sweet with light citrus again. This beer has German and English hops and there is a hybrid feel to it. It’s odd and not at all Wintery.
