Bottle. This beer reminds me of elder juice in every aspect. It looks like it, smells like it and has that special natural tartness of it. It also got some citrus sourness. Nice in many different aspects but it’s a little too straight forward and lacks in complexity.

Bottle in a hotel room in Bruxelles, thanks Jean. Hazy golden coloured with a small white head. Fruity aroma of herbs and flowers with notes of spices. Light acidic flavour of berries and hops. Spicy finish.

6/07/2011 75cl bottle @ home - BB: 05/2012 (2011-314) Thanks to my mom for the bottle!

Cloudy pale straw yellow beer, white creamy head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very sour citric start, then chemical, rotten fruit, vegetables. Smells terrible. MF: ok carbon, light body. Taste: very sour, bit of pineapple, rotten fruits, a little bit of bitter hops. Aftertaste: some slight bitterness and lots of sour. Probably gone bad. <br/.>
Note: on reviewing I am less sure about whether the beer has gone bad or not. Although I like sour ales, this was really not drinkeable. I read "the marriage between Cantillon and Orval", both in my favorite list. But this is just way off.

Bottle from La Cave A Bulles. Hazy gold beer, very frothy - suddy white head. Dry palate. Watery bitterish grapefruit. Ok if ice cold on a hot day but nothing special.

For my 800th rating, I shall rate one of Des Vignes’ various blonde beers; in fact I am, at this point, unsure as to the difference, but my only hope is that there -is- a difference! So, for this one, it explodes in a spectacular manner all over my floor - very aggressive, milliliters gone to inebriating the dust mites, but luckily there’s most of it left there for me. It’s a very foggy beige with plenty of floaters and a huge but not particularily solid head. The aroma is citrus, coriander, yeast, almost like a lambic. The taste is very gueuze-like with sour grain notes and citrus, bitterness but wateriness. In fact if this had been brewed near Brussels I think it would just be called a Gueuze. As for how it tastes, as a gueuze, it’s all right, a bit smooth, lacking complexity, but okay.

Pours a hazy yellowish/gold color. Aromas of tart fruit, bread, hint of citrus, and yeasty. Flavor is malty/citrus. Leaves a yeasty orange aftertaste.

Thanks to my boyfriend who made me discover this fantastic french brewery. Imagine the wedding of a trappist ale (The Orval) with a Cantillon Gueuze and you’ll get an idea about this terrific bitter and sour ale. It is dry with an astringent finish but you can drink it easily. Clearly an underestimate beer.

If you like the Orval I may suggest you to try this one. Dry, bitter, hoppy with a nice citrus attack. Only 5% abv but a strong personnality and a bitter finnish that lasts. Wow !

Bottled. A hazy very light yellow beer with a lazing white head. The aroma has notes of lemon, wheat, and coriander. The flavor is sweet with notes of lemon, coriander, and wheat, leading to a dry, lemony, and bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.
