Commercial Description:
Deschutes Brewery's summer bond Street Series offers yet another refreshing, hot weather quencher to complement Twilight Ale. This unique Belgian-style wheat beer was brewed with zested Curacao orange peel and just enough spices to keep your taste buds guessing. Our brewers tinkered with the recipe for months at the Public House in Bend, Oregon, before perfecting what will arrive on shelves in 22-ounce bottles this June. One prototype of the Wit was sampled at Portland's Spring Beer and Wine Festival in March, where it earned a gold medal.

22oz bottle. Aroma of yeast and spices. Nice golden color with a small white head that dissipates rather quickly, very carbonated. Smooth wheat taste with a Belgium twang at the end. Good crisp mouth feel due to high carbonation. Interesting beer from a normally hoppy brewery, like one review said like a cross between a Belgium Wit and a Hef.

barely hazy golden pour with a soapy white head. aroma is musty, grainy, woody, lemon, spice and some savory yeast. rather muted flavor of banana, orange, wheat, coriander and clove. dry spicy hoppy finish leads to a herbal, banana and wheaty aftertaste. medium body is a bit milky feeling with some sharp spiciness and soft carbonation. it’s good for drinkin’ on but it is rather bland...

a good refresher; a creamy, sweet’n’citrus wheat; completely unoffensive.

This witbeer pours a slightly hazy yellow gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is citrus, banana and clove. A medium bodied witbier. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are spicy. Lots of citrus and coriander flavors. Very lively carbonation. A nice light tasting and refreshing summer beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

22oz bottle. Had more of a hefe aroma of banana and clove. Gold body color with white head and some lacing. Flavors of banana, zesty fruits and a spicey bitterness. Little chalky on the palate but a good refreshing summer brew.

Sample at O’Brien’s in San Diego. This brew is a clear golden color with a thin white head that fizzes away quickly. Spotty lacing. Light spice, yeast and bananas in the nose. Light-bodied and wheaty with mild spice and yeast flavors. Subdued fruits in the background too. The finish is lightly spiced with a sweet fruit aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Bottle, from Bevmo La Jolla. Nothing better on a Summer night than a nice wit, and this one did the job in spades. It’s pretty much everything you would want in a Wit, refreshing, easy drinking, a bit of spice, banana, etc. I admit, it’s a little interesting that they chose a wit for their 20th, but hey, it works.
