Commercial Description:
Deschutes Brewery's summer bond Street Series offers yet another refreshing, hot weather quencher to complement Twilight Ale. This unique Belgian-style wheat beer was brewed with zested Curacao orange peel and just enough spices to keep your taste buds guessing. Our brewers tinkered with the recipe for months at the Public House in Bend, Oregon, before perfecting what will arrive on shelves in 22-ounce bottles this June. One prototype of the Wit was sampled at Portland's Spring Beer and Wine Festival in March, where it earned a gold medal.

Pours hazy gold with a short bu thick white head. Orange peel, wheat, pepper, and herbs in the nose. Light, crisp taste. Lots of wheat and lemon, some banana/clove, and a yeasty funk finish. Refreshing, but not anything too special.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is light to medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of coriander, lemon/lime/orange zest. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Light body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation. A decent rendition. The mouthfeel is its weakest point...lighter and more watery than most in this style, but the pleasant aroma (coriander-dominated, sure, but it has a nice yeast character and ample evidence of the basic components) and quaffable flavor balance make it enjoyable overall.

Bottle: A bit of haze in a golden pour with a modest creamy white head. No real lacing. The aroma is mild and grassey, a bit wheaty. Dry and light hints of spice. Tastes fresh and wheaty. Nice malty feel and a small amount of hops blends well with the lighter spice presence. Clean and crisp. A nice witbier offering.

22oz. bottle. Poured a light hazy yellow, nice white head. Smelled of citrus zest. Spicey flavor with a slightly lemony taste.. Not a fan of witbiers, but it was’t too bad

Slightly hazy golden with medium head. Light citrus & yeast with a bit of pepper. Overall, light all around. Still enjoyable, just feels like a kiddie version of a good wit.

Bomber poured a very lightly hazy golden yellow with a small lingering white head. Aromas of wheat, coriander, light citrus and light yeast. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of wheat, coriander and light citrus with a crisp lingering spice finish.

I don’t know how they can consider this a Wit, it is’nt cloudy, does’nt have much orange zest flavor and no yeast character. Not a Wit in my opinion!
