Commercial Description:
Deschutes Brewery's summer bond Street Series offers yet another refreshing, hot weather quencher to complement Twilight Ale. This unique Belgian-style wheat beer was brewed with zested Curacao orange peel and just enough spices to keep your taste buds guessing. Our brewers tinkered with the recipe for months at the Public House in Bend, Oregon, before perfecting what will arrive on shelves in 22-ounce bottles this June. One prototype of the Wit was sampled at Portland's Spring Beer and Wine Festival in March, where it earned a gold medal.

Pours a clear and surprisingly light yellowish color with a short-lived white head which receded to a ring leaving little lacing. The aroma is pretty standard for a wit with a very sweet banana and wheat aroma with a healthy dose of spices thrown in. The first thing I notice in the taste is a big lemony presence that lasted throughout. The rest of the flavors match the aroma but there’s a dominant lemony flavor that makes this a little bit unique. The mouthfeel is a bit thin honestly with lots of carbonation. This is a decent summer beer but not the most distinct wit I’ve had.

22. Pours a deeply hazy medium copper with a thin white rim of film atop, and some decent sheets of white lace up the sides. Appealing coriander and bubble gum nose. Watery, thin body with flavors quite subdued. This beer looks and smells about right, if not world-beating, but it goes quite watery and in the end amounts to not a whole lot.

22 oz bomber shared with our host doboy, along with DrBayern and Steve. Pours a golden straw color, forming decent white dead of foam. Aroma was of lemons, spices, yeast and wheat grass. Flavour was much of the same, smooth with a nice carbonated character.

Smells of citrus and coriander. Color is very light yellow. Taste is light on the spice and citrus. The body is bery light, almost watery. I’m not a big fan but it’s a great hot weather beer.

Hazy yellow color witha nice white head the leaves bits of lacing and a ring around the glass. Wonderful aromas of clove, citrus, chamomile, bread, and some banana. Taste almost has a bit of Cream of Wheat to it to start, followed by a nice citrus zest, perhaps from coriander, followed by combination of bread dough and clove. Carbonation is borderline high, with a medium body that has gives it good substance but still amazingly drinkable. Really never thought I’d like a Witbier this much, but this one just knocks it out of the park. Big thanks to doubleo for the bottle!

8/17/08 On draught at the Dog & Pony, Renton, Wa. Aroma is citrusy sweet with strong plasticy/bubblegum phenols and a somewhat smoky clove note. Appearance is very clear yellow with a well maintained white head. Flavor is starchy and fruity with a slightly earthy character. Mouthfeel is obviously starchy, medium bodied with a odd slightly acidic tang. Overall, good flavor complexity, but the starchy character kind of kills the potential.
