It’s fitting this experimental pale ale was the first beer brewed at our Portland Pub. This XPA gets its bitter twist from Nugget, and Northern Brewer hops, then delivers a pronounced citrus kick from Cascade, Centennial and Citra hops. Consider this your next hop obsession.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a nice slightly darker amber color with a one finger head of thick white foam. The head has a very good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides and surface of the glass and brew respectively. Smell – The aroma of the brew is a mix of a bready, lightly fruited, and hoppy smells. The bready aromas contain some hints of a more doughty and roasted malt smell within. The lighter sweet fruit aromas are of a tangerine and orange nature while the hop, which are the strongest of the smells, are mainly of an earthy and herbal nature with some other smells of a grapefruit and floral note. Taste – The taste begins with a bready and more sweetened doughy flavor. The sweetness comes mostly from some fruity flavors of a tangerine, melon, and mango flavor with a little bit of a caramel sweetness mixed within. These sweeter flavors, with the bready tastes, create a base flavor for the brew remaining relatively constant through the taste. Right from the start there is also some flavors of hop, with an earthy flavor being the most pronounced upfront and with it remaining so throughout the taste. Other hop flavors do come to the taste buds later however, with some lighter grapefruit and floral flavors coming soon after the initial tastes. With a hint of a dank pine coming at the very end, one is left with a slightly resinous but still somewhat sweet and fruity flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the thicker and creamier side for a brew of 5.9 % abv with a carbonation level that is on the average side. For the fruity and hopped flavors of the brew, the thicker body really soaked these flavors into the tongue allowing them to shine high and be heavily sensed. Overall – This was a lightly danker, but somewhat sweet brew overall. A very nice drinking brew and one to try if you get the chance.

Nitro. Cremay head on a light amber/gold body. This one is buttery like too many descutes beers. Get you shit sorted out.

Bought Bottle in San Jose and had in Maui. This brew has a very full bodied malty aroma with a nice hop compliment. Its a hazy reddish color with a small white head. Its very malty sweet with a good bitterness. The aftertaste is almost a hazelnut flavor. The body is a full body with a good carb. Not a bad brew.

Bottle: An inch of creamy sand colored head on top of a clear copper pour. Quite a bit of sheet lacing. Nose is light, herbal and floral with light pine. Piney and floral hops in the taste, a little citrus and something that resembles apple cider. Finished a little herbal and earthy. Light lingering bitters. Not bad, but with Mirror Pond in the lineup… this is a benchwarmer.

Nitro draft. Aroma is hoppy and creamy. Appearance is a hazy bronze with a creamy, white head. Taste is a very dank hop. Not much else. Palate is pretty fruity. Overall, a decent IPA. Would like to try a bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

solid effort at an APA, equal too, or perhaps surpassing mirror pond, depending on the mood. MP strikes me as a slightly more english leaning pa (although a little too hoppy to be classified as such). this one is slightly more unabashadly hoppy, a little paler, and a little cleanre. tasty brew."

Pours a medium amber-orange with a short white head and lacing. It has a mild aroma of amber malt and pine, and a flavor that is hops and malt up front with a malty backbone and slightly sweet finish over a medium body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
